A strangely early MMP

Haze that just goes to show ya, the outfit does not make the person; the person makes the outfit.

I’ve made slaw, baked beans, grilled poke chops and burgers and tidied up da cave a bit. WHEW! Now I am entitled to relaxate.

JoeDawg and his daddy are here. I told daddy he could come on over and make his pie here if he wanted and he took me up on it. His partner will be here shortly. Since we intend to indulge in adult beverages and beerverages by the pool I suggested they plan on campin’ out in the guest room and to bring JoeDawg on over too. Of course, even though I’m not officially nanny, I still insist on JoeDawg bein’ on a strict regimen. Right now he is havin’ mandatory couch time which was preceeded my mandatory treats and skritches. I figure that since he’s used to bein’ on a strict schedule while at da cave this weekend should be no different. That way he does not think he can be spoiled while he’s here. I think it’s important to reinforce that fact.

Ok, I hear some type of adult beerverage callin’ me. What? It’s Saturday. 11:00 A.M. is not too early. Hmmmmmm… sangria or beerverage… decisions… decisions…

Hi, arm and wrist issues, not much typing. Back later.

Ouch CutiePie, hope it’s nuttin’ serious.

I just wanted to report that I am samplin’ the sangria. In a word…
YUM!!!

I’m proud of me!

Holy Crap!! I’ve never spent so much money in my life. I killed two credit cards.

In related news, I bought my first laptop and an ipod.

Okay folks, here are pics of my new haircut.

I cannot ever look right in a picture, so don’t laugh too hard.

Here’s the link:

Tater’s haircut

I added a couple of older photos for comparison.

Love it, Taters! It’s very flattering. And your smile is fine.

What is taking Hillary Clinton so long?

Taters, your 'do is faboo!!

We’re taking a break - the laundry room has been deconstructed and the washer and dryer have been relocated and are now operational again, so yay! Once lunch is done, we’ll start framing the bathroom and closet walls.

**FCD ** and I were up and out before the young 'uns woke up, so we went to check the boat and have some breakfast. Bad news at the boat. The starboard aft cleat broke. The cleat is where you secure the line that goes from the piling to the boat to keep it centered in the slip. We had a nasty storm come thru, and apparently that’s when the cleat broke. What’s worse, since the boat was no longer constrained aft, the bow pulpit (the rail around the pointy end of the boat) apparently smashed repeatedly against a piling, bending the crap outta it. Dunno if we can fix it, and replacing it will be $$$. Rats.

Well, the boss is nagging, so we gotta get back to work. More pics later.

Ooh, very sveltified indeed, Taters! Looks great! How easy will it be to maintain? That’s my problem with great haircuts – I have trouble making them look half as good as the stylist does. You definitely got a great haircut there!

I’m so sorry poor JoeDawg is suffering again, Swampy. Sounds like he needs to be rescued from all those mandatory skritches, treats, and couch time. How his daddy can let you treat him that way I will never know.

You did the right thing to tell on ACW, Rigs. One of these days, if she keeps acting that way, she’s going to do (or not do) something that will really hurt someone. You guys are in a position of trust, and it sounds like she is entirely not trustworthy! Maybe she should go work a desk job somewhere, so if she screws up, peoples’ lives won’t be on the line.

It is miserably hot and humid here. Or at least humid; the hot part will come later. I plan to stay indoors and ignore it as best I can. Papa Tigs is going to go buy us that new washer & dryer; today’s the last day of one sale, so if he decides that’s the best deal (which he won’t know till he gets the final price, including sales tax and everything), then this is the last chance to take advantage of it. Of course, the local place that has good prices all the time may be the best option, too. I’ve decided not to worry about it; he’s going to get nicer than I would have expected, so I don’t want to be there to talk him out of spending the extra $$ for the platforms to put the machines on and such!

Rusty made a new human friend this morning – Papa Tigs had the Idiots playing over at the school, and a woman came along with her two rescued schnauzers. She was quite astonished with Rusty’s friendliness – she said that’s what she often finds hardest with rescued dogs, is getting them to allow strange people to approach them. Since Rusty’s first reaction on seeing a stranger is to run over, sit on their feet, and gaze up at them adoringly, that’s not an issue for him. And Papa Tigs even managed to refrain from telling her about all his other issues (or, as snowbunny says, lifetime subscriptions). I’m not sure it’s fair to leave someone thinking Rusty has two brain cells to rub together, however, since we’ve never found more than one in functioning condition.

Back to work. This weekend is makeup time for being sick last week; gotta make some $$!

Love it! It frames your face so nicely!

Very purtiful!

It is too hot to exist today.

When I left for work this morning it was about 38F. Yes, F. shivers You can hate me now if you want, but honestly, I want some warm weather dammit! It’s June!

I had a big ole post all typed up, responding to a whole buncha things and teling you all about our busy weekend and the dinner plans for the following week, but tha intarwebs (or more precisely, IE) ate it! Urp!!! BUGGER!

Nice hair, Taters! It looks beeyootiful!

ETA: snowbunny, it was 38 here too yesterday - 38C, that is (100F)!!!

I agree with everyone else. Looks good.

And I’d say if it looked bad, I’m a jerk like that. Not today, I like it.

Your resident troublemaker,
beebs

I’m going back to nap now…

Doubt no more, Taters, that cut looks very nice. And, no, it’s not too blonde (although it’s hard to tell from pictures; if it looks like it does in the pics it’s quite perfect).

Don’t ask me how a yellowjacket climbed under my sweats and up my leg, but one did and OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW!!! :frowning:  It stung me 3 times before I figured out the problem and jumped out of the sweats. It is now safely smoooooshed and flushed down the toilet. Fortunately I was in my living room when this happened.

Sorry about the broken boat parts, FCM.

Yay on the new laptop and iPod, mousie.

38 (Fahrenheit) is a bit too cool for me this time of year. It doesn’t appear to be quite as hot as originally predicted, which makes me happy. It’s only 81 or so.

Did I mention I’m home from work? I’m going to go in for another couple hours in the morning and should have the big task I wanted to do over the weekend all done.

Now I’m gonna go outside and work in the garden for a little while.

Hugs to all I missed.

Back later…

GT

Love your hair, Taters! It’s a great look!

I have been a bum most of the day. I did do the weekly onerous chore of picking up poop in the backyard so Mr Rebo can mow. That’s it.

I watched Memoirs of a Geisha. It was very good! I cried at the end. Just when I’m getting a good boo-hoo on, Mr Rebo decides to come in and start talking to me. He laughed at me, and ruined my tearjerker! :stuck_out_tongue:

Later, gators.

38F? Can I come visit? It feels like South Louisiana out there right now! In fact, Papa Tigs dragged me along to get the washer & dryer, and then we stopped by the La-Z-Boy shop and got a new recliner to replace the dying recliner loveseat in our living room, and as luck would have it, the sales clerk at the La-Z-Boy shop is the same woman who sold me my wonderful desk chair last month at the Expensive Back Shop, which is going out of business, and I recognized her immediately because she’s also from the same parish in Louisiana we lived in. So we had a lovely time discussing Jefferson Parish and Louisiana weather, and agreed that we have lost our acclimatization to this level of humidity by living up here. It is just nasty out there.

At least now I have my wunnerful new washer & dryer coming on Friday, and the new chair coming as soon as we can figure out where to get rid of a nearly dead loveseat. Personally, I’m inclined to put it out by the curb with a sign, “Free to a good home,” because both recliner handles are broken off, one arm is coming loose, it’s coated with dog hair, and the back on one side is caked with dog drool where Rusty sits to look out the front window. (Which is why we didn’t buy another loveseat – he won’t get in just a chair, and it won’t be anywhere near the window!) Anybody want a totally used loveseat? Anyone? Please?

So I’m now home sitting in AC with a fan blowing on me. The stores were hot, and the car didn’t really have a chance to cool down properly, so by the time I got home I was a sweaty mess. When I’ve finished cooling off, I’ll stand in the shower. But I want to cool down first; it is horrid out there! I’m glad we aren’t committed to going to Wolf Trap tomorrow, that would be ghastly!

Thanks everyone for the compliments on my hair.

I’m not sure if it’s easy to do yet because I haven’t taken a shower today. I’ve been busy cleaning for tonight’s shindig.

We finally had a call on the boat we’re selling. She asked us to send some pictures, so we did, but we haven’t heard back from her. :frowning: It’s a damn nice boat and like new, I wish someone would hurry up and buy it.

Sorry about the broken boat parts, FCM.

Sorry about the owie bee stings, gt. I hate those damn yellow jackets. I’ve been stung by those things more times than I can count.

Well, I should get back to it. I gotta send Mr. Taters to the store so he can pick up some party plates and cups. I am NOT going to have to wash a ton of dishes after this do. Hopefully, he’ll cooperate and go for me.

Ouch, gt. Those insects are evil.

So hot. I just cleaned out Cloud Maiden’s room. Olive is sprawled on the floor, wanting to know why we don’t have a/c.

Please come visit! The last time you did you brought warm weather with you!

Some bug bit me on one of my right toes. Now it’s itching, and there’s nothing I can do about it. AAAAAAAGH.

I want a new washer and dryer!!! (I covet all front-loading washers.) But it’s not happening in the next couple years.

Thanks for the sympathy. I forget how much yellowjacket stings hurt. At least the hurt doesn’t last long.

Late lunch/early dinner was Libyan salad and 3 quesadillas (I had to walk to the grocery to get a few basics: cucumber and tomato for the salad, cheese for the quesadillas, milk and bananas. )

Now I’m finally headed out to the garden to do a little bit of light work - some sweeping a few more containers, maybe a few more perennials in the ground, some weeding.

Then I’ll be in to nap, I think.

Off to get some work done.
