Fixing home fries for brekkie–yum! I’ve been using new, red potatoes and they seem to work very well for home fries.
Saw the movie Mrs. Miniver yesterday and am once again struck by what the British people endured. Not just the British; most Europeans, for that matter. Probably the 65th anniversary of D-Day and all. I don’t know if I could watch Saving Private Ryan again - once was enough for me. The D-Day scenes, while very realistic, were just too much for me.

Yesterday was a looooooooong day, but it was fun. We golfed 18 holes. I suck at golf, but I was tenacious and kept it at it. I got a few nice drives and smacks, but for the most part I was replacing divots. After that, we ate at the clubhouse, and then sat around for karaoke. One of our friends sang and he was pretty good. The club was cheering for him.
I haven’t golfed in 24 years. This would explain the pure suckage. It took us a long time to complete the round and we kept letting people play through so we wouldn’t hold them up. Our friends were extremely patient with us and I appreciated that.

I want to just take it easy today, maybe do a few household chores. We’ll see what happens.
Ol y’all know who is all confirmated. We decided that’s the term we like. He was surprised by the silver cross and chain. Hee! I sneaked that one in. He did say he was wonderin’ what I went in and asked the Bishop (to bless the cross) and why I was skulkin’ around the Altar before church started. I placed the cross on the Altar where the Bishop told me to place it so it could be blessed at the Offeratory.
Brunch was amazing! Food everywhere! Lots of it! Good stuff! Even adulterated trifle. MMMMMMM… Plus we had a little reception time before brunch with champagne punch and regular punch. I’s stuffded!
We’re skulking around home, waiting for the kidlet to wake, and about to go to Attacks Husband’s parents’ place for dinner. I have just baked and assembled an unbeautiful but delicious cake- orange vanilla cake with orange cardamom syrup and ginger icing. We’re having Indian (korma, dhal, something beef, and aloo something or other) and I thought it would go.
Off to stuff ourselves!
Oh. yeah, it was his birthday yesterday. That’s why we’re going.
Home. We went sailing, and it was glorious out there! It was a tad gusty, and I get a little nervous when gusts hit, but I’m getting better. We had a nice supper and emptied a bunch of leftovers from the fridge. I expect I’ll sleep well, what with all that fresh air…
Can’t believe the weekend is over. Dotty, I hope your stoopid deal closes - you deserve it!
I’ve been utterly unproductive for the past two days, thanks to a low-level flu/cold/whatever… whatever it is, it’s not getting better and it’s not getting worse. I just seem to be hovering in sick mode (as opposed to Sick Mode, where I feel crummy enough that I can take a day off work to recover without feeling massively guilty) .
My only achievements are over 5 hours of gameplay in Patapon 2 (which is wicked awesome), polishing off two really trashy historical romances, and a loaf of Rye, Pear and Pine Nut bread which is currently on its second rise (recipe will be blogged at a later date).
Kalhoun, we happen to have a mower over here that could use some fixing… stoopit mulch block thingumabob feel off when The Boy went to mow the lawn today. Does the Mower Whisperer do housecalls?

Daughter and I just assembled our new grill. It is very cool - big, porcelain-clad cooking surface, warming tray, side table thingie, lower shelf for stuff. We’ll have to try it out - should I do burgers, weenies, or steaks?? Decisions, decisions… And it’s got a lid, so theoretically, it could be used as a smoker. I’m gonna hafta try it.
But for now, I’m enjoying some Blue Bunny Peanut Butter Panic. I need a shower - I feel sticky icky.
Can’t believe I have to go back to work tomorrow. Stoopit work.
We sat in the Barnes & Noble near Pirate U and talked for about an hour. She had to get out of town to the other end of the state, and I had to get to my fire class down the road. She was delightful and funny, and made me wish I was single and 20 years younger. With her whole ITP thing, I didn’t get very far making IV jokes…
In other news, yesterday was the 4 year anniversary of my sveltification surgery. If they hadn’t flamed out at 15 years and were still alive, it also would have been my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.
VWife worked me to death again today, shampooing carpets and bringing in new furniture to replace what the critters have shredded. I didn’t even get to go fishng this morning, dammit. I’ll go to work tomorrow for the rest.
I have photographic proof as well, but I haven’t uploaded it from my phone yet. I also got a picture of my dad’s cat sticking his tongue out.
Very tired after driving 600 miles in two days. Had a good time at the reunion and enjoyed some fine whine provided by Nephew Z. I celebrated ITP Remission day by bruising myself up real good unpacking my car and falling off a log today.
I’m home. I called the parents, and wished them a Happy 41st anniversary. I also told Mom about the bowling:
Me: I went bowling
Mom:You’re taking after your Polish side
Me: I bowled a 59
Mom:BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

I have planted four hanging baskets and done a bunch of weeding. The baskets look pretty, although they’re not really where I want to place them. The charm of shepherd’s crooks is that you can move them.

I had a really strange burst of energy y’all. I have mowed da yahd and spiffed da cave. It’s all clean and lovely. What was that all about!
Anywho, it has worn me out. Hopefully that means I will sleep in since tomorrow is an off day for me. Plus, since everything is done, mayhaps I shall have lots of pool time if’n the weather cooperates.
