A survey of posters

Since becoming Shirley Ujest in May ( I was Just Joan before that on the old board) I’ve had over 750 stream of conscienceness thoughts on here. It’s cheaper than therapy. My dog is very greatful for SDMB for if it didn’t exist, she would need therapy for all the ranting I do to her in place of this keyboard and screen.

I can’t stand the suspense any longer Kel- what conclusions do you draw from the survey, besides the fact there are way too many people screwing off at work.

A) 80% Work, 20% home. Just to get the correlation straight

B) 295, including this one.

C) 7-28-99, that’s 82 days if my math is still OK.

Good luck on the survey Kelli. Oh yeah, I’m white, male, hetero, 26, I smoke, I am a house owner, I drive a Peugeot and I like beer. Any correlations in those data ?

B) 2-3
C) A couple of weeks

Recently discovered the message board (been going to Straight Dope for about 6 months). Since I have two PCs I’m able to surf on one while the test scrips are running on the second.

Thank you to all.

My conclusions are as follows…

We spend entirely too much time goofing off at work.

At home, unless we are already ON the net for something, we arent as likely to check the boards, whereas at work, the computer is right there…and so we check. Its the 1999 equivalent of passing notes or talking in class.

The idea that prolific posters dont have a life is not entirely accurate.
Posters who are at home, where their ‘life’ is…dont seem to spend as much time here as those at work. Work is not ‘real life’.
I, for example, dont take smoke breaks, and as such, posting right at this moment is my brains equivalent to a smoke. (calms me down, perks me up at the same time).

The SDMB enhances my typing skills, exercises my brain, its non-fattening, wont give you cancer, or an STD. Its my hobby, and as such, it has a priority as something I enjoy very much, but something that is pushed aside when necessary. I think the ‘work posters’ are all pretty similar in that respect. When its busy, we post less, when its not, we are free to post more, read more, compose longer messages.

Thanks everyone for participating.
