A Tale of Two Turtles MMP

Whew - what a day… I was stuck for an hour or so because a model I was running wouldn’t run. When my mentor came over to show me - it took only a second - he could have IM’d me and I could have been working. grrr But I finally got up and running.

Then I found out I’m going to be part of a training exercise the end of the month - working B-shift, which will be 9-5. I usually work 6:30-2:30. I am not happy. Oh well.

Chickie-veggie soup is almost done. Class tonight. I wish I could just go to bed. But I’ll build my planters and try to sneak out early.

C’mon Firday!!!

Howdy Y’all! It’s MY weekend! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

It is stormin’! Biiiiiiiiiiiiig! Biiiiiiiiiig rain! Intermittent Biiiiiiiiiiiiiig thunderclaps! Has been all day. I have no idea how much rain has fallen but I did let water out of the pool for almost half an hour after I got home. That’s a lot of water folks. I may need to again before beddy bye, especially if the rain is goin’ to keep up like this all night. ICK!

{{{Dotty and HRH}}}

Ok, need to do sump’n. Maybe I’ll clean the bathroom. Or not.

Later Y’all!

Hugs for Dotty and HRH. Second opinion sounds like a good idea.

Since we moved at work in November, I’ve had a real office, with a door that closes. Occasionally, I can hear people in the conference room next door, but other than that, it’s really quite quiet in my little work world.

Glad Isaac is starting to adjust, MamaT.

I’ve grazed my way through the kitchen for dinner (almonds, chocolate, little pastry). Should probably add a fruit and veggie, but…not yet.

Back later.

GT

gt I suggest chawklit covered strawberries and broccoli and cheese. We must have our fruits and veggies after all!

In other news… it’s still rainin’ but it’s supposed to quit by morning. I had envisioned doin’ some yahd work tomorrow, like mowin’ cause the [del]weeds[/del] grass needs it but as soggy as everything is I don’t foresee doin’ it tomorrow. Guess I’ll just have to spiff da cave instead. It could use it.

Cool, the official Soldier of Reference just stopped by! He got done with his You’re Going to War Now, Boy training and has a break between that and deployment. I mocked his Republicanism and we chatted for a bit. Best part was a patron came up to ask a question and he looked very confused about why the Army was hanging around the desk.

Second opinion, but girls almost never get enough calcium (and Vit D). Good luck.
Other than that, I got nothing to say. Work was long and hard. Tomorrow is no better. Where is my violin’s bow?

Night all.

Evenin’ all.

Hugs to **Dotty **and HRH. You want I should slap that idiot pediatrician upside her head? Because I’ll do it. I will not tolerate being spoken to like that by so-called “professionals”. Definitely get a second opinion and go in armed with research and questions written down. That way you don’t forget while you’re speaking with the doctor.

I’m glad Isaac is starting to adjust too, Mama T.

Sigh, a new meeting has been added to my weekly rotation. I have to attend an Access to Care meeting with the deputies and commander every Friday. Yippee…not. Well, in all actuality, I’ll attend every other Friday and my officemate will attend the Fridays I’m not there. Still, I’m already on an access to care task force subcommitte and I have a meeting for that EVERY week on Thursdays. It’s supposed to last an hour. Today it lasted two and one half hours. That’s the usual time, by the way.

Plus, there’s my admin officer meeting, and my branch chief meeting, and several other monthly and weekly meetings. Bleh.

In other exciting news…well, I have none. Hugs and smooches to all.

Canes win, the building was so loud my ears hurt. how bout them apples, MBG?

{{{{{Dotty and HRH}}}}

Congrats on the HW, Moonie!

gotti, my sympathies on the soon to be Farting Canine of Doom.

Hurrah! It’s Firday! I got an email from Shiny New Boss to say that she’s on leave until 21st April but has left me some stuff to do which is good 'cos I was running out of stuff. She also sent my line manager some really nice comments about me for my performance review - and she has recommended me for a one-off bonus payment because of the costs incurred in changing my holiday plans in January after the Med School office changed an exam date and we had to switch our flights. I doubt the uni will pay it, but it’s nice to have it recognised.

(((((Dotty and HRH)))))

I’m in for a busy weekend, I’ve promised to help a friend clear out a lot of stuff from her house and move it to her mother’s house. Except we will also have to clear stuff from her mother’s house to make room for the other stuff. A weekend of “stuff”!

Up and caffeinating - late today too. Ah well, at least it’s FIRDAY.

Hugs to Dotty and HRH; fingers crossed about the second opinion too. In the mean time, try to relax a bit and enjoy your weekend.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and leisurely caffienatin’.

The rain has left. That’s the good news. People who live in especially low lyin’ areas are bein’ evacuated due to flooding. It shouldn’t be that bad and accordin’ to the news this is “precautionary”. The big river is up to its banks and will probably flood over the next couple of days but again, just in low lyin’ areas around the river banks. It appears the bridge over the creek on the main road I travel to town will be ok. That’s especially good news for da bear.

Thus endeth the flood report.

Today I shall cave spiff since I can’t yahd work. I am also goin’ to make ham and N.O.T. soup in the slow cooker. That’ll be nummy for dindin with some cornbread.

Ok, time for some more caffiene and accordin’ to rumbly tummy brekkies.

Later Y’all!

Thanks for the hugs folks. I am feeling better today and HRH is her usual boisterous self, none the worse for the idiocy at the hospital clinic yesterday. We will just see what her usual doctor says on Tuesday.

swampy, please put some of your soup and cornbread through the CD drive for me when it’s done. It sounds num-num-nummy!

Oh yeah… recipe. OOPS!

Ham and N.O.T. Soup

3 1/2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced (I keep mine with the peel you might not. I won’t judge. Well, within your hearin’ anyways.)

1/3 cup celery, diced (Not necessary but if ya got some celery hangin’ around use it.)

1/3 cup onion, finely chopped (The onion is necessary so get choppin’!)

1-2 cup ham, diced and cooked (or be lazy like me and buy it already cooked!)

3 1/4 cups water

2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules (or a couple of those cube thingys)

1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1 teaspoon pepper (If you’re feelin’ adventurous throw in a little cayenne pepper on top just for kicks)

5 tablespoons butter (Yes, butter! Put that margarine back in the fridge!)

5 tablespoons flour (Self-risin’ or All-purpose, whatever ya got)

2 cups milk

2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded (Extra, extra sharp is good but if ya want it more mellow, that’s your business. Ok, actually, some Swiss and Provolone together is pretty good too)

Combine potatoes, celery, onion, ham, and water in stockpot and bring to boil.

Then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender.

Stir in the chicken bouillon, salt, and pepper.

In separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour and cook stirring constantly until thick.

Slowly stir in milk as not to allow lumps to form and all milk is added. Continue to stir until thick (4-5 minutes)

Add in cheese and stir until melted.

Stir the cheese mixture into the stockpot and cook until heated through. It gets thicker as it cools.

Alternate Method:

Dump everything except the butter, flour, milk and cheese into a slow cooker and let it go to town on low for three to four hours, then do the stuff the recipe says to with the butter, flour, milk and cheese and add to the soup. It’s the [del]lazy[/del] easy way!

I got invited to a birthday party tonight. Yes I got invited to a party. I’m not sure whether or not I’m going to go, though. On the one hand, I was personally invited by the birthday girl and it’s at a smoke-free bar. On the other hand, I don’t know anyone else who’s going and I’m only a casual acquaintance of the BG. I’m leaving it up to my back. It was killing me by the end of the day yesterday and I have to do some heavy lifting this morning (stupid research projects requiring students to use books rassum frackum).

Okay, somebody’s going to have to explain “Firday” to me.

Uber-blurf.

I was paged for a wreck at the crack of ohmygawd this morning, where the patient was ejected from his vehicle. Got to work 2 hours late.

Tale coming shortly. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :clunk:

Uh, once a week you shove an evergreen up your keester. Duh. :dubious:

It’s our little endearment for Friday. Started by our lovely and not much present as of late Haze when she once posted in a [del]drunken stupor[/del] ever so lightly tipsy state, “Firday” instead of Friday.

Yeah, we’re weird. Deal with it. :stuck_out_tongue:

BBBobbio are there any Verizon stores left standin’ in your area?

ETA: I like BBBobbio’s explanation better.

I better get to practicin’.

Happy Firday! I’m up and caffeinated.

spaz, I’d go, but i like going to bars.

swampy, I like the lazy N.O.T. soup better.
