I’m not 100% sure what they were accusing is the same sort of thing I was thinking of according to this:
Basically, she claimed that he was working for Trump pro bono, and paying out of pocket for travel and other expenses, but was billing and accepting money from other clients to cover those costs and creating an impression of a loss when he wasn’t actually doing so.
I -do- believe as stated upthread that he probably does have some cash/investments on the down low, or held in other names, but with the current scrutiny on him from multiple sources, if he touched those, his current and future creditors would likely pounce and freeze to prevent him from liquidating or transferring them beyond their reach.
But the actions of the last few years, and his penchant for the good things in life do not rule out that his assets are dwindling rapidly. Oh, I don’t believe he can’t afford what’s going on in his troubles to date, but he may well be able to figure out that as things continue, he won’t be able to afford his debts, defense, and penalties with his income and is playing “woe is me” card to try to run the clock out, whether to his own death or an unlikely return to power and prominence.
