A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

Just breaking on CNN: Giuliani has reached a bond agreement. It’s $150K, with the usual conditions (“no discussions with co-defendants” etc.). Apparently, he is currently on his way to the Fulton County Jail to be booked and processed.

As much as Trump hates being a defendant, you’d think this would be especially hard on Rudy, after his career at DOJ. Trump has always been a slimy criminal, so somewhere in the back of his mind, he must have known this day might come. Rudy, on the other hand, never thought for a second he’d be indicted. (until 2021, of course)

What sort of discussions are banned? I mean, they must be allowed to discuss their defense strategies with each other, right?

Those conversations should take place between their lawyers. (I haven’t seen the language of the conditions, but this is my guess)

I believe this is exactly the case.

I think it’s a good guess, and it would be my guess too. No problem if Rudy talks with his lawyer who talks with Trump’s lawyer, who then talks with Trump (for example). And any messages, info, whatever, make their way back to Rudy by the same route.

But Rudy may not pick up the phone and call Donald directly. Any communication between Rudy and any co-defendant must go through the lawyers.

Given that some of these lawyers seem to have encouraged false grand jury testimony, it’s not as much of a check on misconduct that your would normally expect. But it’s better than nothing.

When I practiced criminal law we had a saying, “If someone goes to jail at the end of the case, it should be your client and not you.”

I think you could just go for it and say “have obviously suborned perjury.”

I don’t want to get sued, but that’s a reasonable inference.

It sounded like Donald Trump with Rudy’s voice & body at the post press briefing and a trip to the bail bondsman!

CNN reported that he flew private into Atlanta this morning. They also wondered how he could afford that and not a lawyer.

He makes it up on volume?

He probably got a ride with a friend who was already going that way. It’s like carpooling.

Yeah, no reason for that seat to go empty! Right, Clarence?

What’s this mean?

That it is hilarious that he has to use a bail bondsman! From crime fighter to guy slinking into a bail bonds outfit because he can’t afford his own bond which doesn’t seem that high.

He may just be “playing” broke.

My, how convenient for the prosecution. Simply identify everyone who attends or “buys a ticket” but no-shows and you have a total who’s-who of the coup backers.

Good marketing opportunity for Second Chance Bail Bonds. “We’ll bond anyone!”
