A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

So Rudy wants to go to court to prove he’s not a liar as claimed. And all the defense has to do is to provide proof of relevant lies.

Yeah, this is going to be a quick one.

Apparently not. Another lawyer is looking to jump ship.

Except he’ll probably be disbarred before the case reaches any kind of court. So he’d wind up with the lawyers not good enough for Trump.

Even disbarred, he can still represent himself.

I get feeling that the lawsuit against Biden is some kind of desperation move. Maybe thinks he can negotiate dropping it in exchange for Hunter dropping his suit or something.

Precisely, anyone can represent themselves, though if a person is doing so because they can’t afford an attorney, and it’s a criminal trial, I’ve heard of judges reminding the defendant that a public defender is available and strongly suggesting they take advantage.

In a civil case you’re on your own.

And he still has to deal with that Staten Island thing.

Thanks for that. I hadn’t heard about that one.

If it gets announced Ima go long in popcorn commodities.

Things just keep getting better for him. Now the IRS has placed a lien on his property for $500k of unpaid taxes.

What is a little surprising to me is the “relatively” small amounts of money at stake for him in his various problems. $500k to the IRS. $1.5 million to this former lawyers. Don’t get me wrong, that’s bankruptcy level debt to a lot of people, including me, but for someone that is playing in the big leagues, it just doesn’t sound like ruinous numbers. I mean, Trump is hosting $100,000 a plate dinners for him. That should shake loose enough money to get the IRS off his back, shouldn’t it?

Doesn’t depend in part on how much of those $100,000 plates fees stick to Trump’s fingers? “Hey, it’s expensive to put on a major dinner at Bedminster! Rudy, your net will be … 10%.”)

Certainly. I just assumed he would be sitting on a dozen advisory boards, or have his own Harlan Crow to bail him out of situations like this. Who knows, with Rudy, this could all be part of the act to show that he can’t possibly pay the attorney’s fees and judgments in the defamation lawsuits against him.

I think he’s always thought Trump would be his Harlan Crow.

@Northern_Piper is likely correct, he always assumed that Trump would have his back, financially and otherwise, after Rudy became an early and fervent supporter. Which proves Rudy’s judgement has been subpar for quite some time.

Financially though, hasn’t he been through the ringer in multiple divorces?

When you have a habit of switching from an existing spouse to a pre-existing and (often semi-public) lover, you’re not likely to do well in the divorce unless your pre-nup is unspeakably solid. And again… Rudy’s performance as a lawyer is quite suspect.

So, while I still think he has funds squirrelled away, possibly a good deal, if he -touches- them while under the lawsuits and scrutiny he is under, they’ll be targeted as well. So, yeah, it’s all sackcloth and ashes right now. Of course, he could have been overconfident enough to never think anything like this would happen to him (despite multiple scandals, divorces, and lawsuits) and NOT set up a secure bank account / resources elsewhere.

We’ve all be learning that Rudy, like Trump, was always impressed by his own success and image, far far above and beyond any realities of such.

Did his name feature in the Panama Papers at all?

In the early 2000’s, I used to work in a storefront business located on the ground floor of Judith Nathan’s apartment building and it was common to see Rudy’s car and driver parked outside while he went upstairs for a quickie.

And in other Rudy news, prosecutors are looking into the rumors of his alcoholism, because I guess they think they can poke a few more holes in Trump’s already leaky “I relied on the advice of my lawyer” defense if Trump knew his lawyer was a sloppy falling down drunkard. Gift link

I can’t imagine a large number of people willing to spoil their appetite to the tune of $100.000. And what good is he to anybody? He’s a late night laughing stock.

He’s so screwed.

Rudy is Trump’s friend to the end. That’s…heartwarming?

tfw someone tells you they’re ride or die, and you’re like, “So, about that second one…”

I wasn’t sure Rudy would flip until now
