A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

Opening line to Rudy by Supertramp:

Rudy’s on a train to nowhere, halfway down the line
He don’t want to get there, but he needs time

It’s so unfair. If these two take all he has, what will be left for Dominion?

[cough]and Smartmatic[cough, cough]

I will always admire Rudy’s calm response to the horrors 9/11 and the days afterwards. Americans needed to be reassured by his stoicism and determination.

I’ve read his alcoholism is bad. Running in Trumps circles and breathing the orange gas didn’t help. Rudy’s a sad clown now. I remember a couple years ago their was a photo of him with smeared tv makeup

see post 435 above.

Yep, LOL

Sad broke clown. Rudy, kiss your money goodbye, you racist fuck.

Sad broke clown who is facing a criminal trial next year that may put him in prison for the next 5-10 years.

For less than a year a quarter of a century ago I had the misfortune of doing collections (and bankruptcy - what fun!) At the time it amazed me the lengths certain persons went to to successfully insulate themselves from collection on judgments. Oh - the company bears YOUR name, you live in a mansion and drive a fancy car, send your kids to private schools, but actually everything is legally in YOUR SPOUSE’S name?

One I remember was when I got a judgment against a well known Houston Oiler. At the time (no idea whether still) Texas did not allow you to garnish wages or file a lien against a primary residence. Every Monday I’d have that client calling me saying, “I saw that fucker on TV again yesterday. When are you going to get me my money?!” (To the player’s credit - he eventually paid the judgment, even though he was pretty effectively insulated against it.)

Unfortunately, IIRC the maximum garnishment (is that a word?) is 10%. I think the plaintiffs will have to be satisfied that for the rest of his life, Rudy will be seeing that deduction in whatever he earns and think back in why it is there.

I dunno. I know that applies in some situations in the US court system, but I’m not familiar with where, when or how.

This quote from Rudy in this Talking Points Memo article caught my eye:

The absurdity of the amount is indicative of the absurdity and unfairness of the entire proceeding. It bore no resemblance to a trial in a country with the rule of law. I wasn’t able to offer any evidence in my defense.

Funny, I kind of remember Rudy actively avoiding presenting any evidence, especially during discovery.

He fails to mention he wasn’t able to offer any evidence in his defense because there wasn’t any.

And decided at the last minute not to testify.

But yes, the courts have abandoned the rule of law in their insane persecution of Rudy and poor Donald.

Clearly I am not a lawyer - but I think in Georgia its a ’ Supersedeas bond’ –

Doesn’t Rudy also owe his lawyers a lot of money?

I have the impression that his lawyers would have first dibs on whatever assets he has.

Everything you always wanted to know about bankruptcy.

A couple of points to consider: Not all debts can be discharged by bankruptcy, including those owing on a judgment for “willful or malicious injury”. Also, secured creditors, like banks who’ve loaned money, get paid before unsecured creditors, which I suspect is how lawyers’ fees would be classified.

ETA: I’m not a lawyer and would welcome correction from any of our legal eagles if I’ve erred.

That wasn’t calm. It was befuddlement.

See, he couldn’t exactly be active in his response, since he decided to house his emergency response command center at the World Trade Center.

D’oh. They messed that one up.

I remember reports Rudy and his staff were sheltering in a building entrance when debris from the Trade Center fell on it. No one got hurt.

Quite.

But, in fairness to rudy, it’s not like anybody could have ever imagined that terrorists would select the World Trade Center as a target.
