A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

He said he had proof “Stay tuned”. Same bat-time same bat-channel.

I’m going on record as predicting that this will be a part of his eventual defense strategy:

GIULIANI: No, it isn’t truth. Truth isn’t truth.

Solid gold.

I can sure see how somebody who spent the last 20-30 years stewing in, and actively helping to create, the vast RW propaganda distortion field would subscribe sincerely to that outlook.

They’d be factually wrong, but they’d be most sincerely factually wrong.

Technically, the appellate court shouldn’t consider the statements made outside of court and focus just what’s in the trial record. Maybe the new complaint filed is an attempt to get those statements into the record before a final judgment is entered.

Can you not make a motion for fresh evidence on appeal? Especially if it is directly contradictory to the argument being advanced in the appeal?

You cannot. The appeal is based exclusively on the District Court record.

There are probably obscure exceptions, not applicable here

Ah. That’s a different system than I’m used to. Thanks. Speculation withdrawn.

Does the federal courthouse in DC have revolving doors? Looks like they’re needed:

Three days after winning an award of $148 million in damages in their defamation case against former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss have filed a new complaint alleging he continues to make false claims about them.

Pssst…

Haha! That’s what I get for forgetting about the time difference.

It’s news so nice it deserves to be posted twice!

Now I’m imagining Rudy stuck in revolving doors. Very slapstick.

Sped up, with Yakety Sax playing in the background?

As long as each time the door goes around, somebody extracts another $1M from Rudy, I’m happy.

And being chased by judges in robes carrying oversized rubber gavels. That’s how I always picture it.

Rudy reportedly makes $400,000 per year from a radio show. He’s been marinated in the crazy for decades.

Once you let go of social convention, I suspect it’s liberating in its own way. Sure, Rudy is headed to bankruptcy and jail. But he always has a MAGA audience to pander and milk.

Rudy was reportedly devastated by his 2008 loss for the GOP nomination for the Presidency: he nursed his wounded ego in Mar a Largo, self medicated with copious amounts of legal substance. Friends and associates noted that he missed the cameras and being the center of attention: he used to wander around certain upscale New York drinking holes hoping someone would recognize him. MAGA met his cravings. So his pre-2016 behavior is in accord with his post-2016 behavior. What puzzles me was his never ending decent into farce after 2008. This guy once took down the mob!

ETA: TPM: " If you add the $148 million in this case to the $700 million in the Fox settlement with Dominion Voting System, the total so far in Big Lie defamation damages is close to $1 billion, with Smartmatic’s big defamation case against Fox still pending."

Don’t forget those big guys dressed in white with large nets.

They’re probably younger than most judges, so would probably win the “Get Rudy!” contest.

If that’s true I’m impressed. I listen to his drivel (for entertainment purposes only). He interviews people like Jeanine Pirro, Brian Kilmeade and Bill O’Reilly. It’s a right wing circle jerk.

Rudy is ordered to pay Freeman/Moss immediately
