A thread for Rudy {Rudy Giuliani}

Wow. Things are not going well for Giuliani.

Hopefully the money will start to flow quickly.

Countdown to an (almost certainly doomed) effort to declare bankruptcy to dodge and delay his obligations (a la Alex Jones) in 3…2…1…

What happens if he doesn’t pay?

He can try to get it discharged in bankruptcy. If he doesn’t do that, he’ll be subject to people seizing his assets such as bank accounts, or putting liens on his property.

Which is (schadenfreude territory) going to make it really hard to afford a good defense from his second defamation trial for the same subjects. I look forward to Rudy defending himself while he does his preparation from a park bench.

(Yes, I know his home state laws will likely protect his home, but let me enjoy the image at least!)

“Alexa, how much is Rudy Giuliani worth?”
“Rudy Giuliani is worth approximately minus one hundred fifty million US dollars.”

You know he has a stash of hair dye and booze.

You know, if you ceaselessly spew absurd bullshit, you can expect “absurdly” high judgements.

Really? I understood that bankrupture could not serve to discharge a judgement.

I was thinking more along the lines of, “Rudy, if you didn’t want to win stupid prizes, you should never have played stupid games.” Which means pretty much the same thing.

I thought this as well. Any Law-talking people can confirm this? Can the plaintiffs sell the debt to a really mean, mean company for 10 cents on the dollar, and let them go after Giuliani as hard as they can?

My understanding is that some judgements can be discharged by bunkruptcy, but not if they’re the result of malicious actions by the bankruptee. Or something along those lines, I’m probably using the wrong term there. Anyway, what that means is that the $148M judgement is not dischargeable.

If the Court gets any pushback, it seems reasonable to jail him until the victors are paid or until Rudy’s bankruptcy process that stymies payment is complete. Which usually takes a few months to a couple years. The more complicated the stuff, the longer it takes. Might be awhile; I hear the courts are understaffed and overworked these days.

Seems too early. There will be an appeal to process.

I guess it sells news until the appeal paperwork gets filed in court.

I don’t think Rudy will be able to appeal, because he’d have to post a $146 million dollar bond to do so.

The bond isn’t required for an appeal, but is required to stop execution on the judgment

Interesting.

I’d bet a certain orange guy is ducking Rudy’s calls.

This is my question. If I’m these election workers, I don’t want to keep grinding through the unpleasantness of extracting payments from Giuliani one at a time, legal action by legal action. I’d be perfectly happy broadcasting an offer to the nastiest, most vicious collections specialists in the country, letting them bid on whatever seven-figure balloon payment they’re willing to spend to take over my interest in the full amount, and then just taking the money and letting them do their worst.

“‘Rudy Giuliani’? Doesn’t sound familiar. Maybe he brought me coffee once, I dunno.”

But I think you’re onto something. Rudy’s done so much for Trump, that he feels he can call Trump, and Trump will make sure that everything will be made right. So, I have no doubt that Rudy is calling Trump every chance he gets. But, I’m equally sure that Trump has instructed whoever fields his calls that if Rudy calls, then Trump is not in, or he’s in a meeting, or any of those excuses that assistants use when the boss doesn’t want to take a call.

Remember, loyalty is a one-way street with Trump. You’re loyal to him. He doesn’t have to be loyal to you. Rudy is learning a very expensive lesson the hard way.

It should be noted that the latest lawsuit against Rudy is to shut him up, not to extract more money. They already have a judgement for far more than he’s worth, so there’s no point in trying to get more.

Heh.

I can just see the commercial with the women singing the J.G. Wentworth jingle…

ETA: and then I can see the Wentworth rep who bought the judgment standing in an unemployment line.
