He also ought to know that marrying in your family tree looks weird, but
Darn the luck!
A federal judge in New York on Tuesday rejected a bid by Rudy Giuliani to appeal the $146 million judgment levied against him for defaming two 2020 election workers
If you’re wondering how he could be denied an appeal, as far as I can tell it’s because he filed for bankruptcy. In that case the court controls his assets and liabilities in large part, and this judgment is certainly a liability.
If someone sees him, please give Arizona a call:
Maybe the prosecutors are just sleepy. I have the solution!
Substituting bourbon for coffee could open up a whole new revenue stream.
He doesn’t get behind anything he doesn’t believe in, and as an avid consumer of coffee (due to his demanding work schedule) he’s 100 per cent behind this product and brand, and as they say, ‘don’t knock it until you try it’,” he added.
That’s after he posted and deleted a taunt, I gather. AG Kris Mayes had already saved a screenshot of it before he deleted it.
I can’t get it to copy here, Dang it. You can see it in the above tweet by John if you scroll down a bit.
Thank you. He’s is such an idiot.
I want to learn more about the assertion that if they can’t find him and serve him by tomorrow they have to dismiss the indictment. Is that a thing? Do indictments expire with the GJ that issues them if the indictee isn’t served or something?
(Also I read the AG’s xit as “months ago,” which didn’t seem to make a lot of sense, I admit. It actually says “moments ago.”)
New York Post has an article about it. Rudy was having a 80th birthday party in Florida and got served there, shortly after he was singing “New York New York” to the guests.
I’m not aware of it, and I couldn’t find anything like it when googling Arizona procedure (it’s possible he was using “must” where a real person would have used “should”).
In fact, Giuliani ought to consider himself lucky. It looks like he was served with a summons, which is a notice to appear in court. They could have just issued an arrest warrant instead. (Now, if he doesn’t make his court date, a warrant for arrest will be issued).
It may also be possible that he was just spouting bullshit in order to try to convince the court of public opinion. Not that he has ever done anything like that before.
This article is chef’s kiss.
For the younger Dopers out there, she’s referencing the Battle of Normandy, in which a battalion of two British soldiers knocked on Hitler’s door and handed him some papers.
Hyperbole aside, I do love how her analogy casts Arizona as the Allied forces and her own side as literal Nazis.
Okay, that was clever.
It’d be fun if, during upcoming presidential debates, Biden referred to his opponent exclusively as “Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1”, although there’d be confusion with actual indictments.
The next step is for Rudy to serve them back, at which point it’s on.
