A Thread for the Mueller Investigation Results and Outcomes (Part 1)

Got to admit. I laughed. Well played, sir, well played.

 I’m totally telling this riddle differently from now on.

“Three Playboy bunnies went up to Trump’s Penthouse…”

I’m reluctant to interrupt a rant that has a good head of steam, but I’m curious: who, if not Pence, do you think would’ve made sense as Trump’s running mate? Do you think it should’ve been Ben Carson? Chris Christie? Mike Huckabee?

Just not sure what you have in mind, here.

I doubt it could be Christie - He has a temper and doesn’t like being pushed around. They’d be fighting in less than a week. I also have a sense that there are some things Christie would never do. He does have limits on how far he will go.

The same goes for Huckabee. There is a line he won’t cross.

Carson is just a fucking moron. Probably too stupid to follow orders.

I used to think that of the Republican hierarchy in general but apparently I was wrong.

Mike Pence is the only one of the lot who has “Phillipians 4:13” tattooed on the inside of his eyelids. That’s why he stands behind the Orange Sack of Horse Manure and looks the way he does, eyes half-closed, smiling rapturously.

I always though that that look was because the crucifix he keeps shoved in his ass is tickling his prostate.

See, that was my point: j666 said that Pence never made sense as a running mate; but that gets me my scratching my head while I struggle to think of a less bad choice who would’ve made more sense. (I’m factoring in that I’ve heard Kasich got the offer and turned it down, which leaves — Gingrich? Jindal? Who?)

Trump: “Philippians? You know I like that Duterte guy. He’s a very strong leader. Very strong.”

Sarah Palin?

He’d end up with some black eyes from trying to feel up a woman who can field-dress a deer.

Cite?
She couldn’t hit an caribou at 100 yards with a scoped rifle.

Well, Fred Thompson once said that Sarah Palin ‘knows how to properly field dress a moose’. That’s certainly an unimpeachable source, yes?

He probably just meant that she would dress the moose in a red-white-and-blue workout ensemble.

And that’s the thing. There are plenty of others that could have done better, but they all turned it down, not wanting to tie their political futures to an orange buffoon that was certain to lose the general.

Pence had no political future left, so had nothing to lose.

Any one of the dozen or so men he mortally offended during his campaign? Hmm, probably not. Still Carson or Rubio would have been better choices, if for no other reason than he would be less likely to go out like Caesar.

I admit I am not up on up and coming young Republicans, but there must be a young, conservative, religious person with a Latin (Hispanic? Spanish?) or Indio surname who would have been able to tap dance around Trump’s more egregious statements without straight up promising a coup (because at the time, s/he would have thought it necessary; it is only with hindsight we not it would not have been).

You really don’t think there was anyone else who was willing to stand one heartbeat away from the Presidency? Well, obviously, you’re right, but I just can’t quite accept that a major political party selected a candidate because no-one else would take the job. I still think Pence was selected at least in part as bus fodder.

I don’t think that anyone thought he was going to win. Had they thought that, there probably would have been more takers, but at that point, it really seemed like tying yourself to him was a mistake. Anyone that would actually help trump get elected had their own aspirations that would be harmed.

And there were probably others that would take the job, it’s just pence was the most prominent of that group of fools.

There is obviously a surplus of Republicans willing to debase themselves for electoral victory and/or high-profile appointments. Remember Romney presenting like a female baboon in season for the Sec of State position just to have the rug pulled out from under him?

Right, but that was after the election.

It was also amusingly graphic.
