LOL, panic ensues.

The Fox “News” crowd actually believes that if Trump holds off on firing Rosenstein till after the mid-terms, it will save Congress from a Democratic takeover of the House (at a minimum). But congressional Republicans know they are in real danger of losing the whole banana, so feel they need to act ahead of the mid-terms.

This is the only explanation I can think of that accounts for the split between congressional Republicans salivating at the idea of getting Rosenstein fired before the mid-terms, and Fox “News” Hannity screaming, “Not yet!! NOT YET!!”

I think you’re both right: Hannity’s self-interest is to the fore, here. Not only because he may have his own legal exposure to worry about, but because he benefits professionally (if you can call it that) from Trump continuing to be President. And he may believe those who think a firing spree at Justice could quickly result in wins in November for Democrats, which could result in impeachment getting a Yea vote and being sent over to a Senate that, horrors, could be Dem-majority, too.

“She,” and, given recent history, yeah: she may have just put herself in the running! The Trump Administration does seem to value those ready liars.

Rosenstein resigning, per Axios. NBC is reporting that he will be fired.

I’ve heard conflicting accounts on twitter of whether Rosenstein is resigning or being fired. I think the difference matters, because if he resigns, the WH can fill the vacancy with anyone who’s already been approved by the Senate for some other job, but not if he’s been fired. Which makes me hope that he didn’t resign.

CNN reporting that Trump will make a decision on Rosenstein on Thursday. And, wouldn’t you know it, that happens to be the day of these Kavanaugh hearings. I hope that wasn’t intended to distract anyone from one shitshow by putting in another shitshow.

Someone explain to me in words of one syllable why Rosenstein might feel he has to resign. Yeah, he made some intemperate remarks which were recorded. But he didn’t DO anything about them. In the current climate, given all the other shit that’s flying around, why is this the Crime of the Century? <Sorry if I’m being naive/dense/slow, but WTF??>
