I’m able to do more than one thing.
Do something useful. Democrats have been walking around on TV for long enough. It’s time to grow up and realize that walking in the park is not a use of time. It’s just an activity to make you feel good about yourself.
Write to your congress people. Research state laws that might allow your state AG to impede Trump. Do something useful or spend your time working hard and saving up money so that you can move to Canada if worst comes to worst.
Are you saying that public protests do not and never have influenced political policy?
I work hard and make plenty of money to do with what I want, thanks. I write to my congresspeople, thanks. I have their offices on my cell phone contacts list, thanks. I donate money to organizations that I think can advance my political goals, thanks.
And, in spite of all of that, I still have time to “walk in the park”.
Instead of being an asshole, how about you try to “grow up” and recognize that people try to influence the government in multiple ways?
Not in my lifetime.
So am I still a chicken little, or someone who knows what the fuck he’s talking about?
We found someone who actually WAS born yesterday!
Okay so let’s say that a guy who believes that the Earth was created 10,000 years ago sees some liberal walking around on TV, protesting, just after the President makes gains in the Senate on a year predicted to be a “blue wave”. Which of these results so you think matches reality?
- He sees the plight of others and recognizes that he has been wrong. He changes his views on life, thus polling differently, and his Republican party representative thus changes to match the views of his electorate.
- He cackles in glee at how the President is running unimpeded over the libtard masses, and further assumes that the successful leader can do and has never done any wrong, and further buries his head in the sand, convinced that all negative news against the President is just the lies of the butthurt left. His representative is now even more tightly bound to kissing the ass of President Donald Trump.
I don’t want you influencing the government. At this particular moment in time, you are more likely to influence it away from rather than toward the aims you seek. You are literally damaging yourself by doing it.
Suggest you quite before you damage yourself any more with a train of thought that is going nowhere. Just an idea, which you are, of course, free to disregard. 'Cause this is still Murrica.
…fuuuck off.
Your hypothetical ignoramus isn’t reachable, nor is his Trump-lackey representative, so who gives a lukewarm fuck what either of them thinks?
There are minds that can be changed, and those that can’t. I’m weary of being advised to coddle the latter.
I’m thinking Sage Rat is in the latter camp on this one.
ETA: The protests are on for 5:00 tomorrow. There will be several hundred around the US.
As I predicted, the assault on the Constitution is on.
Look at the interaction in Trump’s press conference. Look at the firing of Sessions. Look at the successful voter suppression that gave Georgia to Republicans. The Republicans are going to end democracy as we know it unless there’s a popular rebellion against it. Last night sure as hell wasn’t that inspiring, I gotta say.
So what are you doing about it? How many protests are you organizing? How many guns have you bought?
Or have you decided which country to flee to?
(As for last night being “uninspiring,” maybe a lot of leftists out there agreed with what I seem to recall you saying about the uselessness of voting…?)
Now that you’ve cut your teeth on the calamity forecasting thing, maybe it’s time to move to the next level? The sun’s going to burn out in a few billion years— plenty of doom and gloom and weeping and wailing to be mined there, surely.
Ahhhh shut the fuck up. Look, I was ridiculed, called chicken little, called a ranting and raving moron. But everyone here now knows once and for all that I was right all along. So have a nice big cup of shut the fuck up.
Here’s a tip: stop being so fucking complacent? Don’t ask me what I’m doing; ask yourself what you’re going to do. Seriously, folks, enough about me. I was right. You’re the ones who are shocked and surprised and angered. You’re the ones who thought this couldn’t happen. What are you all going to do? Oh wait, I know…knock on doors and vote. BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!
It was supposed to be a surprise— we all chipped in to get you this trophy. I know it’s not much, but I hope you’ll enjoy inserting it.
Will you relax, asahi? I’m afraid you may hurt yourself!
Seriously, though. I only expected us to get the house on the D side. Was really hoping for O’Rourke to oust Cruz, but this is Texas. And we still have quite the clusterfuck of getting basic rights upheld, like voting. We have to weave through this and it WILL be annoying, but it’s a start. And I still think the Mueller investigation is just the tip of the orange iceberg.
The Mueller investigation is dead.
The rule of law is dead.
Until we revive it. And that will require extraordinary effort.
Don’t believe me?
Watch.
