A Thread for the Mueller Investigation Results and Outcomes (Part 1)

Gidley also tried to demean Buzzfeed’s credibility by lying about the Steele dossier.

I seem to recall reading many comments by credible people that so far, nothing in the dossier has been proven wrong, and much of it has been corroborated.

The logical rebuttal would be to question the truthfulness of the two anonymous federal law enforcement officials. As far as I can tell, Buzzfeed News didn’t actually see the emails and texts that would confirm obstruction; they’re just relying on the word of these two officials.

Of course, if it’s all true, then questioning the veracity is probably not the best approach, and deflection/distraction is better. Hmmm…

As bad as this is, it’s probably not bad enough to budge the GOP senators who all fear a primary challenger if they cross Twitler.

As usual, Lawfare has a well reasoned take on the Buzzfeed article.

If Blackburn is an R, that’s exactly who you should call. Are we talking Marsha? She’s an R - call her, and stat! Don’t come back here until you’re done, young maus!

I heard a phone interview this morning with one of the Buzzfeed reporters whose byline is on the story. He was asked directly about this and replied they had both heard about and seen the emails and texts. They were working on this story for months.

Buzzfeed has a penchant for salacious headlines, but their reporting is generally solid.

Excellent summary — thanks.

Ivanka and Don Jr. appear to have been involved in the Russia negotiations to a much greater deal than they reported. I wonder if they are going to be in serious trouble as well…

I think it would depend on if they’ve lied to investigators. There is nothing necessarily illegal about doing business in Russia (depending on if they were evading sanctions), so if they can credibly claim all of their contacts were business related, they’re probably OK? Of course, the Trump campaign had no firewall of any sort between business-business and campaign-business, so they might have a hard time arguing/proving that.

Don Jr. definitely lied to Congress. That was shown in the Buzzfeed article, and one of the major points of it.

Would Daddy take the rap for his precious little girl, though?

Tragically, Tiffany is being left out of all the criming. She is likely “College-aged Michael Corleone” in this saga, to be honest - in 10 years, the Russian mob will bow to her, but for now… no.

Oh! You mean the daughter he wants to shag! Yeah, I doubt it.

I wish that narrowed it down.

I’m waiting to see the members of the Trump Crime Family start trying to throw each other under the bus to save their own skins.

Well, haven’t we been seeing that with Individual-1 and Bagman Cohen?

“Eric? That’s Betsy’s son or brother or something. Never met him. Don Jr.? sorry, he uses the name, but we’re not related. Ivanka? I divorced her years ago, didn’t I? She spelled her name different then. Tiffany? They make lamps, right? Something to do with Audrey Hepburn. I don’t know any of these people. I gotta go. My hamberder is ready.”

A consummation devoutly to be wished, but I think Trump will come out shining and lying, and win a second term. It’s getting him to quit after that I worry about.

You left out

(the month of impeachment)

Never actually had a R impeached, thanks to Nixon’s cowardice.

?

Hoover wasn’t impeached either. I think you may have missed the point…?

Well, frankly, I am unclear why you would put Hoover on that list. He was a decent man, really, who did good things as an ex-presiident. He just listened to the wrong people while in office.
