Rep Jackie Speier (D-CA) on NPR this morning, said that if Cohen’s testimony is as explosive as she thinks it will be, it’s the first step towards impeachment. Yes, she used the “I”-word in public.
I started a new thread on the hearing so there’s not commentary going on in multiple threads.
Good move!
The football appears to have been solidly kicked. Here’s hoping for a field goal.
Sure, but with this crowd, there’s probably a little bit of futility in that good move.
Matt Gaetz Under Investigation By Florida State Bar Over Michael Cohen Threat
Roger Stone just commented on Cohen’s testimony. Doesn’t that void his gag order?
Oh god I hope so.
From your own cite, Rick Kitchen
I hate Trump as much as anyone. My distaste goes back before Apprentice, birtherism, or his run for president. I hated his tarted-up Trump tower bespoilling Manhattan.
But, the hush money payments seem like weak sauce. If you are in the public eye it just makes sense to hush up scandals. It seems like a very technical violation of campaign finance law.
It pales in comparison to changing the Republican platform to remove objections to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, or having real estate dealings with Russia while you are running, or conspiring to submit false statements to Congress, or that fucking hair.
IANAL (I just work for one) but were I Roger Codger’s mouthpiece I would not want to test the parameters of what Judge Jackson considers “effective or enforceable.”
Not throwing shade on you, bro, but if you are in the public eye it just makes sense to not cheat on your wife with a porn star. (Not thowing shade on anyone in the adult entertainment industry either). “Technical violations” are what get people who try to skirt around fiduciary laws and regulations. Al Capone got sent up for “technical violations.”
Yeah, weak sauce compared to some of Orange Julius Caesar’s other reproachful malfeasance. But it’s a start.
Well, I guess we could invent a new board game-- arranging thump’s offenses in order of… of what? Merely distasteful and boorish all the way to “demands a prison sentence!” but just short of “needs hangin’.” We could have them out in time for Christmas.
It probably should be an electronic/PC/Xbox/etc game - it needs to have the ability for on the fly updates (I believe the kids call it DLC) to keep up.
Heh.
2 or 3 dimensions. One for distasteful and boorish and the other for criminal, maybe dementia for the third?
Or you could play Monopoly – Trump Edition
I like the multi-dimensional approach. One dimension for criminal behavior. Another one for civil offenses (tax evasion, failure to honor contracts, etc.). A third for immoral but not technically illegal behavior (pussy-grabbing?). There should probably be an entire dimension devoted to just lying every freakin’ time he opens his mouth. Another catch-all one for being a disgusting, pathetic, repulsive human being. Thinking about the places where these dimensions intersect and reinforce each other-- this could be a blockbuster game. Soon to be a major motion picture.
Better get busy with those designs. Christmas is only nine months away. We could probably get a good deal on having them manufactured in China or Korea.
This is beautiful. Succinct, uncluttered (Marie Kondo approach-- does it spark joy in you? It does in me). Gets right to the point.
I love t, but it needed one of the Chance cards face up, the “Go to jail / go directly to jail / do not pass Go / do not collect $200” one.
How about "Go to jail / go directly to jail / do not pass Go / do not collect $200…* in fact, you OWE $200!"***
Which he would never pay, of course.
"Go to jail / go directly to jail / do not pass Go / do not collect $200…* in fact, you OWE $200! (Which you don’t really have, do you, you loser? SAD!!!)"***
