Yep. “Still no Colusion!1!!1”
Yes, exactly. This particular “explanation” of why Trump-defenders are fighting release of the Mueller report—'it’s all a clever ploy to get Dems excited about the report’s contents!!!1!!!'—does depend on the ridiculous premise that Trump-defenders have advance knowledge of the contents.
Pretty pathetic, really. But I suppose it’s a bit better than the other tactics they’ve come up with so far, which largely consist of vague intimations that anyone who actually wants to see the Mueller report “should” be ashamed of that wish (for some unspecified reason).
In the single instance we have of Mueller’s people ‘correcting the record,’ the record they were correcting was a claim by Buzzfeed that someone in Mueller’s office had leaked.
Neither Mueller nor his people have corrected any matters of fact. They just addressed the accusation (as they saw it) that one of their colleagues had behaved dishonorably (by leaking).*
Mueller is highly unlikely to accuse the Attorney General of the United States of having misspoken or having misled the American people. Mueller is an institutionalist. Challenging a sitting Attorney General in that way is simply something he does not do.
*From the NPR account of the Mueller office reaction to the January 2019 Buzzfeed story:

OK, fair enough. Thanks, Sherrerd, for correcting the record.
I think this Barr stuff is a bunch of whitewash bullshit. He was hired by Trump to kill the investigation. He is on record as having said the investigation was garbage before he got hired. He said some circular crap about you can’t say things about a (this) president unless you indict him, but you can’t indict a pesident - or something like that.
Trump got rid of Comey.
Trump fired Sally yates
Trump fired Preet Bharara
Trump fired Andrew McCabe
Trump fired Sessions
Trump dumped Whitaker in favor of Barr
Each one, I really believe was fired for failing to kill the investigation. Along comes Barr, and he proclaims his bull fucking shit version of “no collusion”, after we’ve seen it happening, and we’ve seen all the interference and obstetrician right out in the open for the past 2 or 3 years. And we KNOW about all the backchannels and WikiLeaks and how he sold us out at Helsinki (just to mention ONE time).
Well, there IS a baby involved. A giant, orange one.
I’ll never understand is the gullibility of Trumpian-type right wingers who fall for the bullshit again… and again and again and again. Piss down my back and tell me it’s raining, I’m going to do everything I can to take you out. Trump supporters just smile and enjoy the golden shower. As it were.
“Well, hey, at least it’s golden!”
But he hugged the flag! And he’s going to make America great again by blaming the poor brown people who don’t even live there yet for the problems caused by rich white people! Don’t you want America to be great again? Do you hate America or something? You must be a commie.
Republicans don’t run on facts and knowledge, they are creatures of beliefs and feelings. Understand this and their behaviour begins to make sense.
Has everyone read the excellent article about Mueller’s time in Vietnam? Among many interesting things is this quote:
This should be Mueller’s theme tune, or at least the opening theme for the 24-part HBO Mueller TV series that will one day happen about the investigation.
Hmmmm … now I have this image of an overweight convict in a cell, playing “Bad Mueller Rising” on an out-of-tune harmonica.
Well, I can fantasize, can’t I?
Look, folks, it’s quite simple.
Have you seen Trump put away the Bibles and hand out autographed copies of the report?
No?
Well, then, it ain’t as exculpatory as Barr would have you believe.
Q. E. frickin’ D!
It’s not like the Bible is exculpatory either, as far as Trump is concerned.
In a surprise move, Trump comes out in favor of additional DOJ and FBI review to figure out what happened when it was decided that a case ended without exoneration, but with no indictments.
1992 New York Times article describes William Barr as the “the Coverup-General”:
So, the President of the United States went on TV and accused the FBI of treasonously plotting a coup against him.
That’s normal, right? Happens all the time?
That’s a lot of exonerating!
Bill Barr seems to be like the Republican Party’s Winston Wolfe (Harvey Keitel’s “cleaner” character in Pulp Fiction).
If he sprays Trump with a cold hose, I’m ok with it.
