This report outlines so much wrongdoing and I’m done hoping anything will get done about it. 40% of the country has lost its mind.
That 40% never had a mind to begin with. What’s worse is that they’ve put cowards into office who pander to them rather than do what is right for the country.
The “I’m F***ed” quote has been on the CNN chiron so long that it will cause screen burn-in; but the full quote is slightly less damning. Or at least, more spinnable.
So Trump is not necessarily feeling he’s personally doomed and looking at jail time; it’s his legacy, his ability to execute his vision for the good of the country, that’s in peril. Right.
And then they go on to conclude that they don’t have enough information to make that determination, largely because they couldn’t interview Trump :smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:
McGahn comes off looking like a really good guy, I bet Trump attacks him viciously in the next few days.
And it looks like there were a total of 14 other matters referred to other jurisdictions. Two of them are unredacted, I’m assuming because they are public knowledge—- Michael Cohen and Gregory Craig. That leaves a dozen to speculate about.
Up until lately, it had been decades since I was reminded of the malignant pustule named Roy Cohn. It was a good time…
Donald, of House Harkonnen, worst of his name.
The House really needs to ring him up. How can you let this shit go?
Mueller gave them all they need for collusion and obstruction. They just have to wait to see if SDNY comes up with any financial stuff to add to the list.
Just turn the Muller report into questions, bring in the cast of characters to testify, and have yourself some nice daytime TV next spring or summer.
All innocent over in Fox News land.
Most of the people who need to become informed will never read the report and the few who even try will probably never get past the first sentence that says, “Not guilty of coordination.”
As said earlier in the thread, the report - redacted or unredacted - isn’t an answer. It’s indictments or bust. Anything less and, with the current state of journalism and political partisanship, there will be no effect.
State-level indictments are probably the real answer. Hopefully, New York hasn’t been waiting for the Feds to get the work done.
One thing that strikes me, and I can accept being told I’m off the mark, is that this whole sorry episode is yet another window into the nest of deer tick-ridden squirrels that occupy the interior of Trump’s thick skull. All of the back-room crap he pulled to try and derail the investigation, all the hundreds of incessant “WITCH HUNT! NO COLLUSION!” Tweets, all that fucking time he wasted on this, turns out to have been completely unnecessary. AFAI can see, it had no material effect whatsoever on the results of the investigation, except to nearly snatch an Obstruction of Justice charge from the jaws of victory.
If there was ever any doubt that Trump is the least competent motherfucker of the past 60 years to occupy the Oval Office, that can now be laid to rest.
We only know the cases where he failed.
As Mueller notes, much data was destroyed and the people all had a habit of chatting through devices that leave no record.
We have to accept the conclusion of the report. I accept that there’s no evidence that Trump had an explicit arrangement with Russia (but nor am I surprised on that point), but lack of evidence is not the same thing as innocence.
If Manafort had caved, the Mueller report could have been a wildly different document. As it is, either Trump was innocent (legally) or his wall of silence was sufficiently strong for the occasion.
I love the way the magats have been defending the cretin-in-chief. It’s truly amazing to see someone excuse away his attempts at obstruction with “But his aides didn’t follow is instructions”. And that makes him a good president? Good Lord.
ISTM that the aides who refused to follow unlawful orders ought to be investigated for misprision.
Or is it NOT a crime to issue an unlawful order?
So he failed to obstruct justice. But not for lack of trying.
Yeah, the irony might be that Trump didn’t obstruct because he’s an incompetent chief executive.
Success isn’t a component of crime, just the intent and the attempt (or, in the case of conspiracy, intent and an act of furtherance).
Trump criminally obstructed justice, he just didn’t practically obstruct justice.
If he weren’t the President, he’d be headed to court.
Who was it who said, The current administration’s malice is only tempered by its incompetence", or words to that effect?
This. ^^
I throw in the towel. Reelection is only imminent. Delaying his retardation even more. If any further charges occur, we’ll find out, “Oh, he’s got a brain tumor! The poor Orange Man! And they had the nerve to prosecute a sick and dying individual! Lock her up!” and all that crap.
He’s been doing illegal shit since I lived near Atlantic City in my teens and 20s. People I know who defend him LOVE the fact that he doesn’t pay taxes! What a hero! He hates the system! Yeah, the system that protects us and protects future generations. The praise for a moron will never end.
I say the House just forgets all this. Bag it. Forget it. Why? All they’ll be “known” for is their own obstruction of justice against a poor, orange turd who’s a hero, possibly turned martyr with the brain tumor. And he’ll never be anything but that.
The lower morons elected a shithead. The GOP actually SUPPORTS this! It’s all for now and fuck the future. The lower morons like Giulliani will only support the bullshit rhetoric of “It didn’t happen, and if it did, it’s not a crime” crap.
Mueller did a shit job of this. There was no reason not to subpoena him. The Cheeto hides from microphones and cameras unless he’s in control of them. Five minutes on a stand and he’d embarrass his whole family and base.
Anyone who’s waiting for the Dems to do anything is wasting their time. The next campaign will only be about what a jerk he is and not what they can do better.
I’m voting Dem anyway, but I really, REALLY do not see any chance of hime being beat. Especially with the majority of his base saying it’s AOK he’s friends with the Russians. Hey, he made money! Wow! What a guy! And all the missiles are gone, right?? Pulllleeeease…
For all of us who thought it’d be better that this Orange Fuck stays alive so he WOULDN’T die rich and famous is over. I’m hoping the massive heart attack happens right this second simply because he’ll be easier to prosecute post mortem. My hopes for the Secret Service pounding open the Oval Office doors while he blew his own brains out on Facebook Live (with Putin watching in the corner feed) is gone. Great wet dream that will never be real.
Fuck all this.
Presumably, you’re just venting, but don’t take this attitude; it can make for self-fulfilling prophesy.
In the aggregate polling at FiveThirtyEight.com Trump gets consistent disapproval from over 50% of U.S. adults. Typically he’s down by over 10%.
The Fox News polls of Registered Voters shows Trump down by five or six points.
The Rasmussen polls of Likely Voters show equal Approval/Disapproval.
Work against the asshole any way you can, and don’t talk about futility. Please.
There was an editorial on Abovethelaw that, like you, ripped Mueller for failing to subpoena Trump and that argued he didn’t go far enough in his investigation, but I can understand why he didn’t. I think Mueller’s team was definitely, absolutely in a hurry to wind the investigation down as quickly as possible. They knew that the White House was trying to fire Mueller and stop the investigation, and I get the sense that Mueller tried to strike a balance between a complete and thorough investigation before Trump erupted and canned the investigation altogether. In addition to that, I think Mueller as much as anyone understood that it was impossible to keep politics out of an investigation of a sitting president, which is why he stopped short of recommending an indictment.
Agreed. If the Dems are going to win in 2020, it’ll have to be by making the case that our country will be better off under their leadership. Pelosi gets it. I hope others do as well.
According to Gallup, Trump finished with a favorability rating of 36% and an unfavorable rating of 61%, the worst of any candidate in history. And yet, he won. Don’t let the numbers fool you, he is still going to be a formidable incumbent.
What can be said, I think, is that Trump’s margin for error is much less than it was on January 20, 2017. If the economy starts to wobble, he’s in serious trouble, and that’s probably true whether he ends up facing any of the top tier Democratic candidates right now.
People will vote for someone they don’t like as long as they think he’s not screwing up their chance at a good paycheck. Once that line’s crossed, people will remember all the things they don’t like about an incumbent.
Me.
