Somehow I don’t think that counts, if they are potential evidence in a criminal investigation and were legally obtained. Besides, since when did Drumpf ever give a shit about anyone else’s constitutional rights?
The best part of those emails is that he had them while he was questioning white house staff. Which means that he knew the answers to the questions, and knows if you’ve been bad or good, and I’m guessing some of those guys weren’t good for goodness sake.
I hope he has a nice yuge bigly data package addressed to every state AG and state law enforcement agency in the country, with clear instructions on how best to proceed.
Isn’t there a legal compulsion to turn over any documents requested by the special counsel? What grounds does Trumps lawyers have to not turn over emails?
Incidentally, Trey Gowdy, who yesterday mentioned that he expects McCabe to be fired next week, was on the transition team. The transition team whose emails Mueller has. As was Nunes.
Orangeanus Deploribus complaining about snooping into e-mail. Truly, irony is dead.
I feel like this can be pretty easily handled.
IG: Mister Rosenstein, did you authorize the release of those emails?
R: Yes, after sending Billy to you to ask if it was okay.
IG: Billy, how do you like jail?
B: Oh, please, Mister IG, I love jail!
These people are all in the city and they’re professional investigators. It’s not like they’re going to read a newspaper headline and go, “Oh noes, the gossip is that Rosenstein released the emails without my consent! It must be true! I should refrain from asking around and just act on assumptions!”
They are trying for a “GSA didn’t own the emails, therefore they were illegally turned over” defense. My guess is there is some serious shit in those emails.
If Mueller asked for them, there is no reason to refuse turning them over if the emails were ‘owned’ by GSA or Trump is there?
I don’t think so, but Shitstain is setting up a defense for his base.
The legal compulsion is a subpoena.
I may have this wrong as I’ve only heard it discussed, not read any in-depth analysis about it. But as I understand it, Trump’s lawyers are saying the emails were subject to executive privilege and he never had a chance to assert executive privilege.
Makes no sense to me, though, since these were emails obtained from the transition period. Meaning he wasn’t yet the Executive. Meaning he had no basis to claim executive privilege.
Moreover, Trump has a stupid bad habit of rendering any claims of executive privilege moot (I’m not aware he has made any, but perhaps he has) by talking about the subject matter himself before he makes a claim. I believe that would be construed as a waiver of any claim of executive privilege.
The reporting coming out is that there was no subpoena because there was no need. This was a government server with government emails. A letter of request was all that was needed.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
Yep, this investigation, predictably, is beginning to hit close to home for a lot of people - it’s not just Trump. I’ve suspected for a long time that this investigation would get shut down; the only question in my mind is how it would go down. The Republican party is a little weak in the legitimacy department at the moment, which is why I also suspect that we’re not that far away from a national emergency of some kind such as a war with North Korea. But it’s entirely possible that the GOP closes ranks and starts an all-out propaganda war and claims that there’s no way to get a fair and impartial accounting of the facts. Of course this would be James Comey fallout times 2 or 3, but let’s be real: the nation has moved on from James Comey. Nobody cares that he got fired except for the angriest of Democrats and anti-Trumpers. Maybe he doesn’t need a manufactured emergency to end the investigation, but they most likely will need one to take their designs on power to the next stage, and believe me 1000% when I tell you that they will try to murder American democracy. They’ve gone too far now, in too deep. It’s not enough to end the Mueller investigation because they know that Americans can vote Democrats into power next year to restart it all over again. They’re not going to just sit by and let that happen.
Boy, you can say this again.
Actually, the odds are pretty good that you won’t be able to say this again at some point because Free Speech especially over the Internet as we know it is going to shut down fairly soon.
I would guess it by August 1st the way we communicate in this country is going to be radically different.
Why August 1st? Because that gives enough time to truly shut things down before the midterm elections.

Weren’t Sean Hannity and Janine Pirro involved in the transition as well? Might explain their fiery rhetoric against the FBI.
Interesting to note that the Trump appointed head of the GSA, which gave Mueller these emails, died a few months ago and the emails were handed over subsequently. Maybe the Trump team thought they had this issue locked down more than it was once the person tasked with running interference was gone.
Dear Og, let this be true. O’Reilly gets forced out for sexually harassing everyone? Hannity tops it by going to federal prison for a few years.
I’m wondering this about the newly-revealed transition emails: is there anything that prevents Mueller from dispersing copies to state prosecutors or investigating agencies?
One wonders how many sealed indictments Mueller already has up his sleeve, just in case.
