Trump is busy working the refs again, complaining about the FBI on twitter. Needless to say, this is not the way that a person who was innocent and expected to be cleared acts. This is the way a person very guilty and expecting that to be discovered acts.
It looks like Andrew McCabe has pretty much tapped out - leaving early next year according to the article.
If anyone thinks that Trump and the Republicans are just trying to distract investigators, they’re being naive. This is just the beginning. They’re going to destroy the investigation, but that’s just the start of it. They’re going to hyper-politicize the DoJ, and it won’t stop there either. They absolutely have it in them to corrupt the federal elections and I predict that they will at least attempt to - maybe they’ll invite Russia to hack into voting booths - they’ll either “win” or they’ll lose and then say that the election results are invalid. And if that’s bad enough, wait until they start politicizing the military and the national security agencies - I mean they already have but I mean they’re going to start pushing people out the door and replacing them with religious ideologues and loyalists.
We’re only a few minutes of REM into this nightmare. We’re not anywhere near the worst of it.
Given that McCabe’s wife is a politician and yet he was investigating politicians - a field where favors and money are freely swapped around as a general course of events - I think it’s fair to say that he shouldn’t have been involved in any political investigations. Based on the information which has come out through 2017, it sounds like the top members of the FBI did tend to be pretty involved in political investigations, rather than leaving it up to the lower echelons to work on. If that’s common in the FBI, then keeping those with political ties or political biases from the upper echelons makes sense.
Overall, removing McCabe (or pushing on him to leave, as it may be), is probably better for the organization.
While I do trust James Comey as an honest human being, I do get the sense that he was too nice a guy and both failed to stamp out any potential for partisan beliefs in his direct underlings and was too concerned with the partisan actions of the DoJ to handle their nonsense gracefully. Undoing some of his work and stomping on his legacy a bit is probably fair to do.
Based on the Oversight Committee hearing with Christopher Wray, I get the impression that he is a pretty decent fellow (almost too much in the Comey model, if I’m honest). But certainly I’m not too worried about any firings or reshufflings that he does. Just because you get rid of someone who is trustworthy and honest, due to political necessity or otherwise, that doesn’t mean that you’re going to end up with a partisan hack replacing that person. If the person doing the hiring/promoting is trustworthy, then the person who was removed will be replaced with someone else who is also good.
Calm down. Have some Christmas ham.
What is there to calm down about?
No ham this year. Turkey maybe?
calm down for your health!
Has anyone asked Sarah Huckabee Sanders about this tweetof hers, which paints her as being almost too deliciously hypocritical?
“When you’re attacking FBI agents because you’re under criminal investigation, you’re losing”
Gosh.
Very few things upset people more than being told to calm down when they are upset.

The response of the rank and file GOP to attack an obviously respectable man like Mueller has had many perplexed. Is the simplest answer that the RNC itself was involved in colluding with the Russians? This morning, an article purporting that Mueller is now investigating the RNC data operation and Cambridge Analytica, with regard to their role in the campaign. If there was collusion, Cambridge Analytica and Jared Kushner appear to be on the front lines of it.
"Two sources told Yahoo News that Mueller’s team is examining whether the joint RNC-Trump campaign data operation — which was directed on Trump’s side by Brad Parscale and managed by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner — “was related to the activities of Russian trolls and bots aimed at influencing the American electorate.”
As an aside, my dream job is spokesman for the Mueller investigation, as this sentence appears in every article:
“The special counsel’s office declined to comment on its ongoing investigation.”
This just gave me a chill right here… realizing that Trump/Republicans have an “out” when the next election wave comes to bury them. “Oh hey, turns out Russian hacking is a thing. We’re gonna have to tear up this whole election and start over.”
Though I guess what’s worse is this is going to be everyone’s excuse, for here on out forever, meaning that the US electoral system is delegitimized. Scary stuff.
Have a banana.
What is the plural of goose when you’re referring to the finger poke in the butt crack goose?
The Dallas Morning News, that hotbed of liberalism, has been running articles since August dealing with this very issue: how the GOP has been swimming in Russian donations.
Fizz.
Never in the history of calming down has anyone calmed down just because they were told to calm down.
calm down.
Mass finger rape
(in the voice of John Goodman) I’m perfectly calm dude. Calmer than you are…
