I noticed in Cristi’s cat thread that you mentioned that your dog was sick. I told Bear and Raven, and now they are real worried.( so, am I )You said some very kind words in my “my dog is sick” thread, and I wanted to return the favor. So, please, how is your little woof machine doing? Is there anything I ( or Bear, or Raven ) can do? Bear wants the dog to know that he got sick, but is all better now. He would be glad to show your dog how to do it. Here’s hoping for all the best!
Dave, Bear and Raven.
( The cats, Sulu and Uhura, grudgeingly wish their best too. )
Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness, weirddave, rubes, Demo and Chris! I’m happy to report that Da Woofer is on the mend. She was one poor, hurtin’ camper for about 5 days.
She got bitten by a flea, even though she uses Program and a 3-month flea/tick killer. She had an allergic reaction to the bite, scratched a hot spot in her skin and it got infected. So she’s been on antibiotics, steroids and an ointment she doesn’t like one damned bit. (The pills are okay because I sneak them down her, wrapped in roast beef slices.)
She really was in bad shape; completely listless, high temp and thoroughly miserable.
But she’s bouncing right back; ears up, tail wagging and looking happy again. I’m so relieved. She’s my best friend.

Warm thanks from Veb, and a grateful tongue lick from
Da Woofer
I recently read a book on the history of domesticated animals and the author’s opinion was that dogs were domesticated for companionship. There are working breeds, but he contends they came after the fact.
