A time and eye saving feature for middle aged mouse users

A lot of newer mice have a scroll wheel that “tilts” right and left when pushed, but until recently I never saw much use for this feature. As my eyes get older I find myself always using the Internet Explorer “magnify” feature located at the bottom right of the page. To use this feature usually requires a few clicks and scrolls to set and reset.

Using the mouse control applet I have set the tilt left and tilt right to correspond to keystrokes Ctrl+ and Ctrl- which yields instant magnification up and down in increments of 10% whe the tilt putton is nudged right or left with no trip to the bottom right and selecting a magnification level.

I’m pretty sure the applet software with almost any late model mouse with tilt right-left functions will allow you to do this. I have theLogitech Nano 450.

OSX Leopard users can do a similar thing. Holding the apple key and scrolling the wheel will magnify the screen regardless of the application. The option to enable this is in the Keyboard and Mouse pref pane under ‘mouse’ … ‘Zoom using scroll wheel while holding’

For $63 bucks, if it can’t flush the toilet, I ain’t gonna buy it… YMMV

But that is a cool mouse. Wish I was rich… I hate the touch pad on my laptop and so I always dance the wired mouse dance … :: sigh :::

On Windows, you can also just hold down CTRL and use the regular mousewheel.
