rigs, I believe you might be the next Emily Post. Perhaps you should start a finishing school. “And to the left of the salad fork is the wet trout.”
Hope the doctor finally made it to see TVMan, Pie.
Glad the party went so well, swampy.
Up, cleaning out the fridge, breakfast, then church, then laundry, then more stuff at home. Urgently need to mow. And do a bunch of other gardening. We’ll see.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! I an on the heathen list this mornin’. I woke up just before six to go pee and decided to go back to bed for a bit. That “bit” turned into 10:15. I am not alone on the heathen list, however, cause I woke up and found another heathen next to me.
Thus, no church because, well, it’s goin’ on as I post. Maybe we’ll go out for N.O.L.. I need to defilthyfy da cave and da yahd needs a good mowin’ too. Hmmmmm… chores. Maybe that’s my punishment for bein’ on the heathen list.
Last night ended with a long, loooonnngggg talk that involved more tears than shouting, but hubby realised very quickly that backing his mother over me would not end well for him. He actually admitted, after stopping to think, that his mother was being a bitch and I was perfectly within reason to walk out. That just about made my head spin! In any event, MIL, my sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law are all still on my shitlist, for many and varied reasons, their behaviour last night (and today) being one of them. Ahhhh, screw the lot of them - they’re all a bunch of jumped up twats who honestly act a little uppity for my liking, especially when you consider that most of them haven’t mastered the art of eating without spilling food all over the tablecloth! Ewwwwwww!!!
Anyway, Eid Mubarak to all - sure feels weird eating and drinking in public during daylight hours, after a month of hiding!
I’m glad the situation’s better, Dotty. My nearly-ex-SiL talked about her urinary tract infections the first time she was over for Christmas. I think she was met with froze4n silence, which she didn’t notice.
(((Pie)))
Sigh. Nat’s ankle is getting better, but he’s been up screaming for hours every night- last night it was 10:30-11:30, and then 3:30-4:30. We have no idea what to do. Well, sort of. We’re probably just going to go in occasionally and let him shriek until he finds he’s tired enough to sleep, and that he isn’t getting tons of sympathy. But it’s bloodcurdling. It sounds like he’s in hysterics or there’s zombies in with him or something.
Glad to hear it. I have many, many pet peeves, but one HUGE one is husbands who choose their mothers over their wives. Grow up, sweetums–you’re supposed to present a united front with your spouse (I feel the same way about wives who choose their fathers or mothers etc).
I slept/read in bed until noon today. And I liked it. I have worked on the procedure manual a bit, but still have the Presentation hanging over my head. Obviously this will be a Hail Mary kind of thing. Let’s hope I win one for the Gipper (although I can’t stand even the thought of Ronald Reagan). Ok, am becoming less linear, so will go now…
Whew!! Another busy day. We went to Waldorf for breakfast, then to Home Depot for some storage bins for the garage. On the way home we passed a yard sale where they had a tent for sale - only $20 - so we got it for the kids.
They all seemed to enjoy camping in the yard, tho it dropped to 50 overnight - my poor baby was frozed! But the fire pit is a hit, and I expect more yard camping in the future. SIL and I went to the convenience center with a bunch of stuff, then **FCD **and I organized a wee bit more before sweeping up the garage and parking the cars back inside.
Van has a nail in a tire - I’m thinking I’ll send daughter to the tire place this afternoon to get it patched. Stoopit tire.
Anyway, we’ve quit garage work. Dunno if we’ll do any basement work or not. We shall see. I may just knit away the rest of the day…
Glad to see your husband realized he made a biiiig mistake, Dotty. Let’s hope he follows through now and backs you in the next situation with his family.
Li-Li, sorry to read that Nat is still having such a rough time with nighty-night time. I am glad to read his ankle is improving.
So, I swallowed hard and ordered the bathing suit. Then I turned around and ordered some Teva sandals for the hubby. I need some type of water sandal/hiking sandal with toe bumpers too, but will wait until I get paid.
After yesterday’s grocery bill (cheese is expensive, dammit), and ordering the bathing suit and sandals for hubby, I’m reluctant to spend any more money.
I’m still sitting here in PJ bottoms and a t-shirt. I’m finding it difficult to get motivated. I should take a shower at least. Eh, maybe in another hour I’ll meander upstairs to do it.
Could have sworn it was right here just a day or two ago!
**Dotty **-- an **official **Eid Mubarak to you now, and glad things are a bit better at least with your husband. Still sounds like you need to divorce the rest of the family…
**Lili **-- glad Nat is doing better! As for not sleeping – welcome to the terrible twos, and a toddler subconsciously realizing he hasn’t much more time left to rule the roost single handed…
We’re so glad. His left arm is still weak, but it does seem to be getting better everyday. And besides, the vampire doctor was a *vampire *moron so he’ll be following up with his regular neurologist very soon and hopefully she will have more insight into the problem.
Typical Sunday here - groceries bought and put away. I got a great deal on cube steak - $6 for two HUGE meal portions. I’m currently boiling a chicken because whole chickens were on sale. I’ll pick the meat off, and use it some other time. I’m also going to make a cheesecake AND a loaf of banana bread. And dinner will be shrimp stir-fry and fried rice.
But for right now, I’m resting. Looks like Ernie has forgiven me, even if hubby still is calling him girly-dog. I think he’s cute!!!
Eid Mubarak backatcha Dotty. Glad to hear hubby has come to his senses without benefit of trouts, chitlins or fryin’ pans.
Da yahd is mowed and da cave has been vacuumed and dusted. Now I need to tackle the kitchen, bathrooms and then mop. If I get motivated, I can get it all done by around five o’clock. Then I could be a slug tomorrow if’n I want. So I should go motivate, I reckon.
Every time my mother complains about my brother “having all the time in the world for his wife but not for me” (not true, he works long hours) or “spending more time with the other grandmother than with me” (true, SiL has a better relationship with her Mom than us three with ours, partly because SiLMom expects people’s opinion to be different from hers), I either trot out “and they will be a single flesh” (or however it’s in English) or ask her what would she have said if Dad had ever NOT backed her up in front of his Mom
For some reason, she thinks she should be subject to different rules than the rest of the world.
Yay for TVMan!
ETA: I think I found it, Neener, we’re all bank-holidaying here except the nice folks at the Library, who open every day during school terms.
I caved to my better self and pounded out at least half of my Presentation. I prefer to work on paper (or a chalkboard–I’m so old school!), and I have to actually do my sample search to make sure it works, but I’m in a much better place than I was. Yay!
Glad to hear TV man is home.
It started to rain here and then stopped. I wonder if it was a practice round. It’s been so long since it rained here that IMO Mother Nature is a bit rusty.
Will someone please come and wash my mini-blinds? Ta.
Read everything, retained nothing. It’s been go-go-go all weekend long.
Thankfully, Film Festival insanity is finally over… it’s great fun, but it does start to get a little exhausting by day eight or nine, and everyone is noticeably wilted by the time it wraps up on day ten. It did end on a good note, though, since our last pick turned out to be quite good - it was a Catalan heist movie… somewhat reminiscent of The Professional in some ways, and was very well scripted and acted.
After that, we dashed off to Rosh Hashanah dinner with The Boy’s family, and then hauled our butts out of bed early this morning so we could ride our bikes over to our friends’ new condo for brunch. I’m proud to say I made it all the way home on my own (The Boy had to work)… I think I’m finally getting the hang of riding my bike in traffic.
And that’s not all folks! I shall be dashing out shortly to meet friends downtown, so that we can check out the Manifesto festival… break dancing and hip hop, here I come.
Da cave is now defilthyfied. Go Me! I’s tahred! However, I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to tomorrow. YAY! Of course, I took two beef roasts out of the freezer and plan on makin’ beef stew tomorrow. Still that’s just chunkin’ up the roasts, peelin’ and slicin’ veggies and throwin’ it all into the slow cooker with some broth to hang out and cook. I decided on it because, gasp there’s no more beef stew in the freezer!
I like havin’ stuff like that around to take out, thaw and nuke. It’s all homemade and a quick way to make dindin sometimes.
Hmmm… maybe I should take out some chicken boobs to thaw and boil up and make some chicken noodle soup too. It’d be nice to have some in the freezer as well.
Yeah, I plan on bein’ a slug and then come up with a day of cookin’ up stuff. I must be channelin’ LiLi
