Up, caffeinated off to work.

Firday evening, we had someone audition for a Darwin Award in Cottonfield County. If he winds up assuming room temperature he will get a full-blown nomination, not to mention having cooled off considerably. I report this second hand; I originally responded because it was a second duty crew situation, but the first crew clearedtheir call and were much closer. The scene was on the other side of the county.
Said genius (NOT!) was hanging quail decoys on a power line. With a 25 foot long metal pole. :doh!: He burned the palms of both hands, had burns in his armpits, was blown out of his shoes, and his legs and feet were black from mid-calf on down. He had a serious heart arrhythmia, and was extremely combative right up to the time he was loaded into the helicopter. That’s when he figured out he might actually die, and settled down.
I also am much saddened to have to report that I’ve now joined TVCTPMeO. Twice a year in the fire department, my committee is responsible for doing weekly truck inspections and cooking dinner. Yesterday, after services at St. Bluegills, I went to the station to inspect trucks.
I dutifully did a walkaround, and then checked the air packs. Honestly, I don’t remeber if I closed the equipment bay door, it didn’t slam it hard enough. Hopped in the cab, and moved it out to the driveway to idle. The door was up, and caught the building dorrframe, bending shit out of both the bay door and the garage door track. :smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack: Damage to the truck is about $1500; I have no clue how much the cost s for the building damage.
We have a station meeting tonight, and I’m going to catch all KINDS of hell…

Uh-oh, VBob. Well, at least you will serve as a “learning moment” for the others.
How was everyones weekend?
I got to see my oldest, bestest friend and ate fab food.
Now I am in Norway on a location visit and the weather is beautiful.
Off to meet some people!
Poor bobbio. I know nobody is kicking you harder than yourself. Definitely an “Aw Shit” moment.
I get to edit a lot of press releases. It constantly amazes me that professional writers make the same errors over and over. Use smaller words and shorter sentences. Your readers will thank you.
My weekend was okay. Made some awesome shish kabob on Saturday night. I finally learned to buy one of those disposable grill trays for all the veggies. No messes with skewering and when it’s done, throw it out. No messy clean up. And it was delish!
Then I watched The Devil Wears Prada. I loved it. Meryl Streep is fantastic. It also makes me want to get to Paris sooner.
Last night we had a whole chickie rotissed on the grill. Also very nom.
Don Juanna is visiting yet again.
Tupug
The day’s still young…
Thing is, I’m not the only one who’s done it. There’s another smashed door hanging from the rafters, and mine will join it. Unless our new trucks come with roll doors, it’ll happen again.
I woke up this morning feeling like a hairball. We played a drinking game during the game last night, where each time they showed Lovie Smith, you had to take a drink.
They show that guy a LOT!
Well back in the pack but happy to be here!
Work’s off to a slow start, and teh interwebs aren’t helping 'cause they’re slow too! Grr.
On writing/spelling issues: I got a reminder notice from my dentist late last week asking me to “verfity” my appointment date and time. :dubious: Glad they hire better hygienists than admins!
Where is autumn?? I want my fall weather. We had a cooler-than-normal summer, and now it’s decided to get hot. I’m sick of 80+ and humid! GRRRRRRRR! Give me some rain (we’re >6" under where we should be for the year) and some cooler temperatures!
morning all! My trip yesterday caught up with me this morning (well, it actually caught up with me around 9 pm last night LOL); my tummy is rolling and not in a good way and my head is hurtin’, so I’m taking the day to recouperate. And it sounds like I’m not the only one! Gentle hugs and healing vibes to any others who need/want them.
BBBBBobbio, you definitely are in need, hon! Watch it at any time, though, 'cause one of your patients could be a relative of mine.
Hope everyone enjoys their day, be it Monday or Tuesday.
Today is turning out better than I expected. I’m just sirtting here waiting to deliver lunch and then either onward and upward or… Naptime
My reason to pick on-campus living was that it was cheaper and less hassle than getting an apartment.
The reason I’m currently very, very happy I picked on-campus living is things like having a 2 hour class at 9:15, then 2 hours to do my nails, then another 2 hour class. I fully intend to use those specific two hours for “homework,” when they happen (which is 4 weeks only).
We have time-and-class tables which look like someone let the hamsters get into the reserves of lifewater. I’m still missing the calendar for one of the electives (which I may or may not be able to take), but so far I have 5 courses in 5 different buildings (but it’s not each course in a building, there’s three courses that share a building but two courses which take place in different buildings on different days); the day I have one course right after another, the two buildings are all across campus; weeks 4 and 6 are identical, 8 and 10 are identical to each other but not to the previous ones, 9, 11 and 12 form a third set, every other week’s class timetable is unique in its uniqueness.
My first piece of homework was self-set: turn the listed timetable into a colored calendar. Makes it much easier to see that Friday is Laundry And Supermarket day (no classes).
MBG, do you know whether anybody took the cat’s license number?
Bobbio… ow! on the door thing.
At work. A pre-schooler pulled the fire alarm, so we got an unscheduled five minute break. He got in big trouble. It’s amazing in the junior high end how much of their memory disappears over a weekend. Test? Today? Really?:dubious:
I’m filling out a flex-spend reimbursement form ('cause I just got my new glasses. Yay!) and they’ve left 9 - nine! - spaces for the doctor’s name/name of the office. Nine! Does anyone know a clinic name that would fit into 9 spaces?? Seriously, c’mon FSA folks.
Bluuuuuuuuuurf.
Film Fest Frenzy continues! The Boy, Miami Friend and I headed downtown last night to see a free roller derby game, followed by dinner and our second movie of the festival (a Hong Kong thriller/drama about a hit squad that fakes accidents).
The roller derby game was part of a big promo event for Drew Barrymore’s new movie… unfortunately, we had to leave before Drew and the rest of the cast arrived because we needed to get to our movie, but the roller derby stuff was great. I wanna be a roller girl when I grow up… it looks like super awesome fun, though I’m such a klutz that I’d probably spend more time on my butt than I would on my wheels.
Strangely enough, The Boy found it very boring. Seriously, what kind of man gets bored while watching a bunch of girls kick each other’s asses while wearing short skirts, hot pants and fishnets??? And then he wonders why his parents were convinced he was gay until he brought his first girlfriend home.
Nava, I think I’ve read the same manual. I have one that reads “Unmask button: Reveals secured data. Using this button will log an audit.” Apparently, the secured data is so secured that we don’t get to find out in advance exactly what frakkin’ data it is.
Ok, you should all know that professional writers have to show they’re professionals by using them fancy-pants writer words and stuff. Because plain, clear, concise verbiage is so… common! Sheesh, people, think before you whine!!
Happy Monday! Boring day at work - nothing to do. I asked my team lead and there may be some things on the horizon, but nothing rush-rush. I’m thinking of taking next week off instead of waiting till October. The weather is still nice, so I can get some of my outside work done. Still thinking on it, but I’m inclined to go for it.
Sketties for supper because I don’t feel like cooking and I had sauce in the freezer. Gotta get a cheesecake tomorrow for SIL’s b-day. Dunno what I’ll make for supper, tho. Wonder if I’ve got a pot roast buried in the freezer?? Must check. I could crockpot it tomorrow.
Knitting tutorial went well - I showed 4 or 5 people the helmet liner and explained some of the tricks I learned. Maryann needs whatever we can finish by 1 Nov - I figure I can do at least 6. Gotta buy more yarn, tho.
That’s all for now. Hugs all around, just because.
I am now awake enough to tell tales
Friday I woke up to yucky rainy weather which immediately put me in a bad mood. I rushed to pack and leave on time - I still left a half hour late. Picked up my friend P who lives about 20 minutes west of me, and we got on the parkway to head to our destination. 15 minutes into the trip, I realized I’d left all my meds at home, so we had to come all the way back here and start the trip over again. It added an hour to the trip and landed smack in the early 3pm rush hour.
Once we got to the conference, everything was fine. The rental place delivered the right scooter (for a change) and the weekend was fun. But I was wiped out ex-Haus-ted, so to stay awake on the drive home, P and I played a word game - which got silly because she was pretty tired, too. I got home around 4pm-ish and immediately crashed. I woke up around 9pm to answer nature’s call, then back to sleep - up again at 4pm, then slept this morning until 10, then went back to sleep until 2. I wanna go back to sleep again.
I just realized why I’ve been feeling crappy in general today… I ran out of Prilosec about a week ago. I took a couple of Tums at TVMan’s house yesterday, but nothing since. Blech.
I hate going to Sam’s Club to buy more, but I hate spending extra money anywhere else. :smack:
Howdy Y’all! I worked then ran around and did stuff since I was in town. I also had lunch with a friend. So, all in all, not too bad of a day, I reckon.
BBBobbio wouldn’t that be TVCTPYO*? Oh and you’re right a definite Darwin Award in the makin’ there.
I et a big lunch so not considerin’ dindin. I bought a box of Little Debbie’s raisin cakes that are callin’ out to me, however.
*The Vast Conspiracy To Piss Yourself Off
no, that would be what I did on Firday
