A turnpike service plaza is not a good place to let your cats roam!

The scene: the second-to-last service plaza on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike.

The culprit: a woman in a blue minivan.

The witness: my SO.

I didn’t see it happen but she did. This woman parked her minivan in a spot facing ours on the other side of a median. 'Bout 12 feet away, I’d say. She opened her door and got out, as did three cats. I was inside getting food for us and saw the cats when I returned to the car. We ate in the car then my SO went in to use the facilities. While I was alone in the car, I saw the blue minivan pull out, pause, then take off. Without the cats.

I reported the three cats roaming loose to an attendant, who said to go inside and talk to his supervisor, who told me there was nothing he could do. Yeah, right, whatever.

Who the fuck leaves three cats in a busy service plaza? They were clearly hungry, I saw one eating some discarded French fries when returning to the car from the gas station’s office.

You were entirely too kind in your title. That bitch abandoned her cats. She’s scum.

Too bloody right. Heard this conversation the other day (Little Old Lady to young man with a mongrel dog on a string.)

"Your dog is very nice.

It’s not my dog missus, she was tie to the railway line."

tied. :smack:

I figured if I had been more scathing, someone would have come in and defended her.

It’s spelled “Thai.” Must’ve been Siamese.

Thank Og for people like the rescuer, who actually rose to the level of humane. How people can abuse their pets is beyond my comprehension.

Good news: I misread the title and thought the woman let out her cats on a turnpike toll area…I’m like, yeah, that would be an inappropriate place for sure.

Bad news: I didn’t see the abandonment coming
