I was Googling to see how public his Mormonism is, and it seems he’s not Mormon at all–anymore. Wikipedia says he converted from Mormonism to Assemblies of God in 2011. While in the past the AGs were treated like a cult for having “tongue talking,” that seems have died down, and the organization itself has become more mainstream.
And, well, the prosperity preachers tend to be of the “tongue talking” variety, too. As are the faith healers.
Mormon converted to Evangelical. And I read somewhere that he started the gofundme thingy very late at night here in Aus when most people would have been zzzzz-ing, so it’s speculated that the first hours of donations were indeed from Evangelicals from other parts of the world, US included.
And yeah, he is copping a shitload of backlash from all directions. Arsehole.
