A Very Early and Stolen MMP

The Dear Abby letter in question. I live to educate and inform.

I think the best part of being Whiskypalian is not having to check my brain at the door.

Back from shopping. We stopped at a place that sells large greasy burgers, so we could get…
large greasy burgers!

Very exciting.

Time to sweep/vacuum/mop, get the groceries squared away, and figure out if Tupug is insinuating that I should have kids already  We stopped at a Home Outfitter’s and I nearly had a heart attack. $100 for a sheet? A plain cotton sheet? I’m going back to Ikea, where they’re $25.

without making me read the Dear Abby letter - do Whiskeypalians worship spirits  ?

Have good weekend, y’all. Don’t know what’s for dinner tonight, and I think, if the weather holds, I’m gonna be scrubbing the deck in the backyard. Yee-haw, my life is fun.

We do consider cocktail hour to be sacred if that’s what your gettin’ at Rosie.

Branch head? Sounds … uncomfortable and … inconvenient.

I’d see a doctor. :stuck_out_tongue:

Back from lunch and don’t feel well. I laid down for awhile, but now have a killer sinus headache. I think the weather is changing a bit–and that can make my sinuses act up.

Dinner in the oven (homemade mac and cheese–I’m finding that I like to cook, now that my kitchen is a shambles and I have to walk downstairs for every ingredient… ).
Not much to add, except: GO CUBS!!!
Work tomorrow.

Bunnies ate my scaviola! The nerve–that was $20 in plants. I bought moth balls, so I hope they act as a deterrent.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Hey, we don’t see Winston Smith here anymore–come back!

You know who else isn’t checking in? Rue, that’s who! What’s up with that?

Ugh, an hour more to go and then I can go home. I am so, so, so ready to go home!

Okay, everybody, here’s the story.

There was no getting the CT today, so we went to my GP just to have something to do that wasn’t the ER. She checked me over and called the lab for my bloodwork from this morning, and she’s positive I don’t have appendicitis. :insert much relief here: I don’t have the rebound pain, no fever, no nausea, my white cell count is totally normal, etc. She is of the belief that I’ve got cyst fluid and that’s what’s bothering me. She told me to go ahead and get the scan on Monday or Tuesday, whenever my insurance comes through on it, but for the weekend I should switch from vicodin to Advil, lay on the couch with a heating pad, watch tv, and chill out. I will follow doctor’s orders (and miss three parties I wanted to be at, because of it, but hey, I’m tired). She also thinks the pain will probably subside in a day or two, and I’m all about believing that.

I feel much, much better. Physically, I’m still a little iffy now and then, but the pain has indeed decreased, and my tendency to panic has started to diminish. Mom has gone home to make it to my niece’s birthday party tomorrow, and left Roomie with strict instructions to smack me in the face should I start whining about anything short of catastrophic pain. Mom’s into the tough love.

So, off I go to the couch and the heating pad, as ordered. Have a nice weekend, everybody!

Drae, just feel better, ok???

rigs: heh. Uh yeah, go cubs indeed…now where’s my broom? That guy’s your ace pitcher?

Gonna be a long weekend in cubbie-land…

gardentraveler I know. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug Yes it’s got trees, park benches, the whole nine yards.
FCM The chocolate is in the mail. :dubious:

Happy Birthday!!! Taters

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Taters!!!

Mention of Dear Abby sent me to find yesterday’s paper. (Located under Tuesday’s paper, of course. ) Definitely sounds like someone swampy and ACBG might know.

Ooooh…I like the MBG for Prez concept. Yeah, he’s nice; isn’t it about time we had someone nice in office?

Glad you got to talk to the doctor, Drae. Sounds like good advice to me. (Not that I’m in any way qualified to judge that…) Hope you feel lots better by the end of the weekend.

Hey. Lissla, I’m thinking Puggy was thinking more “practical present for the new nephew.” You could also send a set to Hal. I was going to suggest curtains until I heard about color and motif. But hey, maybe winter curtains for the baby?

If everything goes as planned, I’ll be seeing Rue tomorrow. I’ll report back with his excuses Sunday and/or Monday. Assuming he doesn’t stop in first.

In the other missing people department, there’s Ashes.

It is clear that I’ve had a long week. It took me minutes to grasp rosie’s spirits joke.

Well, gotta go shopping to make sure that I’ve got everything for tomorrow. I’ll be planting in the morning and picnicking in the afternoon.

Back after a while…

GT

I think Rue is all a’tizzy about his picnic this weekend.

I see we seem to have a misunderstanding.

I support the Cubs as a concept–I am all for the underdog (and in fact have been known to silently root for the other team, if “my” team is up by so much that a slaughter is occuring–I like close games, well played and good sportsmanship).

I know nothing of the Cub’s current line up–the last time I did know, Bruce Sutter was their pitcher… But I like it when the Cubbies win(I am also somewhat gladdened when the Sox win) and that’s about it.

It’s gonna be a long weekend for me, regardless. There is something about time at work that makes it move like molasses. The days I have off whoosh by, the ones at work–crawl…

Drae --that sounds like a sensible plan. Sorry you are missing so many events, but just think, everyone is now deploring your absence and wishing you a speedy recovery (rather than saying, "that skanky beast couldn’t even be arsed to show up! and words to that effect…). I kid.

My Metsies are still in first place - barely, but there! YAY. They’re playing the Yankees tonight - right now the score is tied, bottom of the 5th. Lately we’ve really been giving Da Bums a run for their money

Me, I’m a Tigers fan in pretty much the same way that rigs is a Cubs fan. Fraid I can’t tell you the name of a single member of their team. Manager? Not a clue (I’m pretty sure they have one, though.) The mention of Denny McClain in the Tigers thread caught my eye, because I remember him. And Al Kaline. If I think hard enough, I can come up with a few more names from the late 60s-early 70s (maybe even mid-seventies). I think I stopped paying attention in high school.

Well, I have veggies, I have hummus, I have coolers (2 small ones), ice pack thingies are in the freezer.

Really ought to do a load of laundry. And cut up veggies. But maybe I’ll just get up early to do that.

Off to ponder.

:: goes to graduate ::

Have fun, Spats!

I hope everybody is feeling better this morning.

I got so mad at myself last night. I screwed up my weekly shot of interferon! And I don’t have any more. I forgot to twist the needle down tightly, and I couldn’t get it to plunge. So I’m looking at it, I tighten it down, and all the liquid squirts out! Damn it.

Tom says he’ll go to the doc’s office on Monday and get me some more, since he’s off work. But still, how stupid can I get?

At least it’s the weekend. And we’re celebrating Tom’s 52’nd birthday!

Congratulations ahead of time. Don’t trip off the stage. Don’t flash anyone, like happened at my (high school) graduation. Not me! Our boys wore dark navy blue gowns, easy to hide you weren’t wearing anything. He gets up there, and FLASH! And the cops came.

Happy Birthday to Tom and happy graduation to Spats!

Today I must take apart a very big piece of pork. It was cooking in the crockpot overnight, with some chipotle peppers and some salt and scallion vinegar. I was just sort of throwing stuff in. Anyway, it’s cooked, and I will go to work smelling strongly of lard.
