Drae, take care of yourself and do follow the doctor’s orders. I’m glad to hear the pain is subsiding somewhat.
Happy Birthday to Tom!
Congrats to Spats!
When I arrived home from work yesterday, the hubby had prezzies for me, even though I wasn’t expecting any. I received three books and a CD case that matches my new rig. That was very thoughtful of him, as I was in dire need of new reading material. After opening the prezzies, we all went out to dinner where I stuffed myself sick. It was good though!
The weather is crappy today. Hubby plans on making a run to the dump, and I should take the kids shopping for some new duds.
This evening we’re going out to dinner with some friends and then we’re all going to a play at a local theater. It should be fun.
Tomorrow, my MIL wants to take us out for my birthday. Yup, we do birthdays big here. They turn into all weekend long celebrations. I’m glad next weekend is a three day weekend. I’m gonna need the rest!
Whew - busy day! After claying around this morning (heh heh claying around…), we had lunch at Red, Hot, and Blue, then came home to assemble our yard cart. Once the box of pieces became a dump cart, we took it out, attached it to the mower, and spent a few hours doing yard work. We gathered a bunch of sticks and raked leaves and generally cleared part of the front yard.
FCD mowed the right-of-way along the street, then mowed where I was raking. He decided it was time to take out the bird bath that was sitting in the front yard, so we’ve now got a hole to fill. Plus we’ve got to move the concrete monstrosity out of the way till I can sell it.
While he was using the weed whacker and the blower, I dumped the last load of sticks and leaves, then mowed the back yard. It was 5:30 by the time we came in to 2 hungry, nagging animals. But the critters are now fed, the workers are showered, and it’s time for a relaxing evening. I’m thinking I’ll sleep well tonight.
Lawnmower Man kindly waited til 9am to start (he’s been known to start as early as 7:30) so I got some decent sleep, but for Smokey trying to get me to wake up at 6am to feed her (like she doesn’t have a huge bowl of kibble next to her water dispenser) So she sat on the window ledge til I got up. I should get her a kitty window bench. (I spoil her so)
I slugged today (I’ve been doing that on weekends a lot lately) and I had a really weird dream, but I don’t recall it now - that’s what I get for not posting right after waking up.
Happy Birthday Tom (Mr Reborn?)
Congratulations Spatsie Drae - how are you feeling this weekend?
Hi and appropriate exclamations to everyone else. I will probably hibernate tomorrow, too. Storing up sleep for the coming week. 3-day weekend just aaround the corner. YAY.
I was gone all day…but…I met Rue! I met Rue! I met Rue! And that’s all I’m sayin’. For now. Cuz it’s very late, I just got home, and I’m pretty much ready to fall asleep while typing.
Boy, do I feel yesterday in my aching bones!! I think it must have affected my brain, too. I had several weird dreams last night. One was that my daughter married a Chinese man and moved to China without telling us. The next one was that one of my sisters had a baby - no biggie except she’s 50 and has had a hysterectomy. In the dream, she had taken up smoking (you’d know how weird that was if you knew my sister) and she insisted it wouldn’t bother her baby because the more they’re around smoke, the more they get used to it.
The last one involved the MMP, sorta. Most of the dream was disjointed, much like the MMP, but at one point I was talking with a veteran MMPer (don’t remember who it was supposed to be, tho it was definitely a girl-type person, and definitely notswampy in drag… ) Anyway, this guy was listening to us talking about it, then he bragged about being in the MMP. I mentioned that I’d been posting in it forever, and he looked at me like I was from outer space - at that point it was obvious that he was a pretender cool kid. After all, what MMPer hasn’t heard of me? Sheesh!
Then I was awakened by a cat poking me in the face. It was 6:15, so I got up to take the dog out and feed the critters. That’s when I realized how much I’d worked yesterday. *DANG!! * But the doggie pooed, both critters are fed, FCD is still crashed (he was up in the wee small hours watching TV, so I know he’s pooped) and I’m thinking about starting laundry. Except I’m so sore, I don’t know if I can manage getting the hamper to the basement. This might be a good time to work on my teleportation skills…
It would also be a good time for a complete, healthy breakfast to appear.
Waiting…
Waiting…
Waiting…
Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my hubby! He says thank you! Since today is actually his birthday, he’s decided we’re going to an Astros game.
We had a blast last night. Dinner was fantastic - I had red snapper with Ponchartrain sauce - brown sauce with mushrooms, shrimp and lump crabmeat. Divine! He had a rib eye with the same sauce. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
Engvall was hilarious! My face was hurting from laughing so much.
Gotta run - I have an hour and a half to grocery shop and do a load of laundry.
Really, I was going to slide that healthy breakfast through the CD-drive at you (how does Cheerios with banana and a few dried blueberries sound), but I was asleep, having gotten to bed extra-late. I woke up at 6:44 but was able to convince myself that it was not time to get up and was able to actually sleep until about 9:30. Woke up a couple of times in the middle, but it appears that I may have gotten sufficient sleep now.
Interesting dreams, FCM. Have to agree that one way to identify an authentic MMPer would be to see if they know who you are. They would also need to know that you like chocolate. And are nice, dammit.
Rue is also nice, in case you’re wondering. And funny. And mildy insane. (If any of this is surprising to you, you are not an MMPer.) I’ll save the long version for tomorrow, but:
We picknicked (lotsa food),
We went to Jungle Jim’s, which defies description. One must go there.
We went to the campground. We dined on an…ahem…interesting combination of gourmet delights. I have now eaten both alligator and wild boar. Neither of them tastes like chicken.
We sat around the campfire. Peeps were roasted. Although most were actually reduced to ashes (N.O.A.) rather than roasted. Also, it is useful to know that the surface temperature of a roasted peep is very hot.
I drove home. It was dark until I got to I-71. I was afraid I was lost, but when I got to Brimstone Rd., I knew I was in the right place. (This sends a wrong message, doesn’t it?)
I arrived home.
Off to church and then to figure out what I can do today. It looks like the early morning rain may have (pretty please!!!) been it. I really need to get stuff done in my garden.
Happy almost Victoria Day, all you Americans! I don’t know why we celebrate the birthday of a queen that’s been dead for more than a hundred years, but that’s okay. Tomorrow’s a holiday and there’ll be lots of fireworks.
Yesterday, I spent way too much money on the kids at the mall. I also bought a pair of shoes for Mr. Taters, but apparently I purchased the wrong size, so now I’ll have to take them back.
At 5:30 we went to dinner and then went to the play. The play was was well acted and entertaining. There was drama, there was swordplay, and there was singing, there was head being chopped-off’edness (is so a word, I just made it up), there was skullduggery and betrayal, there was adultry, there was carousing and drunken singing, there was love, and I forget all what else. We saw The Three Muskateers.
Today my MIL is taking us to dinner. I don’t think we’re going to make it to Costco again. Our weekends have just been far too busy. I’ll have to wait just a little longer for the new washer and dryer.
It sounds like you had lots of fun gt. You’ll have to fill us all in on the details. Did you berate Rue for being so scarce around here? Well…not berate him, but gently chide him?
Well, I need to clean myself up and get on with my day.
It was really cool, Lissla. I thought of you when we were in the Indian and Asian sections of Jungle Jim’s. There were lots and lots of intriguing items with no English explanation on them. You would have loved it.
And, yes, Taters, I did [del]chide[/del] tell Rue that we missed him and had noticed that he was awfully scarce. He said he misses each and every one of us.
Lissla, I figure Victoria Day is something like President’s Day here (which started out as two separate holidays, Lincoln’s birthday and Washington’s birthday). You’re just celebrating the concept that there have been good monarchs/presidents in the past…
OK…so I missed 12:00 mass, so instead I went to a bunch of garden places to get potting soil for containers and a few new herbs (need to move a bunch of stuff around in the herb department).
Now I’m having a nutritious lunch and then going out to further expand the crabapple beds and plant a few more plants. I’m hoping I can get all my annuals and perennials in the ground today as well as making a reasonable amount of progress with the beds. Also, I’d like to get a few containers planted. And the weeds gone from the driveway fence.
just popping in quickly before work (I no longer get Sundays off :() for some reason, the MMP seems intimidating to me these days, so I’ve been just lurking.
How did my doctor’s visit go? I’m on the waiting list for a residential treatment center in my city. It should be about a week now before i get in. I was diagnosed with anorexia, so I guess it’s official now. Plus my heart rate is really slow and my blood pressure is really low and a bunch of other stuff that is, apparently, bad and probably scare tactics.
Anyway… off to work. oh goody effing gumdrops. I’m beginning to hate this job.
I have just noticed something and I think that I should be disturbed by it, but maybe not. See, Rue is like the godfather of the MMP. What I noticed is, I have a little over twice the posts on the Dope as he does. So, either he doesn’t spend as much time with us as he should, or I spend waaaaaaaaaaaay more time here than I really should. I am concerned. Which is it?
Personally, I vote that Rue has been neglecting his Doperhood.
woo! yay! I got to work and another girl was there. She was all, “um… are you working?” and i was all, “I thought so, are you? I can totally leave if you are.” so she was like, “I thought so, but I can leave if you want to work. do you?” and I was like, “um, not particularly. no.” so we called the Chief to see who was actually SUPPOSED to be there.
