A Very Grumpy MMP

**flytrap **- don’t ask me about anniversary gifts - we don’t do that in this household. At most, we’ll go out to dinner at a nicer-than-usual place. My sisters were aghast that we pretty much ignored our 25th, and with our 33rd a couple of months away, apart from keeping track of which anniversary it is, we’ll maybe go to a Japanese steak house or something.

**FCD **is on his way to Cleveland. He got up at 4, which means I was up at 4. He was out of the house by 4:30 and I lounged around in bed with the dog and the cat to pester me till my alarm went off at 5. I took care of all of my morning chores and I’m killing time till I leave for work, with a stop at WaWa enroute to get a breakfast sammich.

It’s amazing how much you don’t notice your thumbs till you can’t use one or the other. My right thumb is in a lot of pain after I smashed it yesterday, and I’m surprised how often I’m reminded of that pain. Getting my jeans buttoned and zipped was fun… yeah. Be kind to your thumbs!!

Pellet stove came on this morning - it’s 42° in my yard - a bit below normal for this time of year. At least it’s still too warm for frost here, since I’ve got to take the truck and it’s outside.

Anyway, Happy Tuesday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I got a text from the power company that power is back on at work.:slight_smile:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 80 and sunny for the day. Nice! Perhaps I shall even do some of the tree trimmin’ I need to do. Or not. I should though just because of the weather bein’ this nice.

doggio yay for power at irk! Now you can see what you’re doin’.

flytrap take her possum huntin’. That counts as a romatic getaway in Arkansaw, right?

OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, well, we shall see what the day holds.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

A vacuum cleaner. Women love practical gifts for their anniversary. :smiley:

Oh, you wanted a serious answer? If it were me, and it were my anniversary, I’d love dinner out at a favorite restaurant of hers and maybe a little something more.

About to make breakfast and finish the Peapod order. I wish there were a coffee place that delivers.

A vacuum cleaner could send you on a hunt for Mrs Plant v4.0; Give her something that is meaningful to her. Maybe have a photo of the two of you from when you first met blown up big enough to hang on the wall, and give it a nice frame, maybe with a heart-shaped matte.

Or just give her chocolate and roses. Sometimes things are a cliché because they work.

and in case anyone was wondering, BLURF!

::Phew:: Scary!
Had an intruder get into the house.
Had to use my hand-to-hand combat skills. Killed 'im; he’s dead now.
Did I call the cops? Nah, I just gave 'im a burial at sea.

::flush::
I got her a new bag & a belt. Now she can vacuum again. :smiley:

What an excellent idea, Rosie. May I also suggest an accessory to go with.

Oh yeah, it’s 64° inside & ½ that outside, & I needed to comb my hair (I get a buzzcut in the summer but it’s growing longer now). Stoopit Fall! :mad:

Still waiting for the drawing from hell to save. I swear it took more than 15 minutes for it to compile and print 3 sheets. Something is wrong with the file but the prevailing attitude is “That’s just the way it is.”

Um, I don’t think so…

blurf In full on Fall Fest mode here. It was cancelled last week due to the hurricane that we did not get.

Anyway, we have to forklift the pumpkins from the commissary and run em through the car wash to clean them. We have to decorate the hay ride wagon. I have to go gather all my Halloween stuff and get all the decorating stuff out and organized. I will be glad when it is over on Thursday.

The maintenance guys are out now putting up the tents. It is a huge affair.

Happy Toosday!

It’s sunny and 50 degrees outside.
It got cold last night. I had to break down and turn the heat on.

I have lots to do and a big ol’ blurf interfering with getting it done.

:smiley:

Of all the cool & unusual things I’ve had the opportunity to do in my life, this isn’t even one that I’ve thought of.

Seriously, are they huuuugge pumpkins or are you running thru a crateful of normal sized ones?

Butters you have a very interesting job.

40 degrees amurkin. Nice chill to the morning. No frost yet.

Boy child off to school. Time to send the girl on her way. Also need to find out why husband is looking for Febreeze.:dubious: Life is a cabaret.

Lunch. My computer is possessed. I’ve been trying for over an hour to open a file. It keeps telling me it’s corrupted, but my 2 coworkers can open it just fine. I’ve tried everything they’ve suggested to no avail. After lunch, I need to figure out who does computer troubleshooting here.

grrrrrrrrrr

It’s two bins of regular ones. About 80 pumpkins total.

Now we know. 40 degrees is when the car tires decide they need more air, so I dealt with that after dropping the girl off after school.

Heating some quiche (I know there’s Mumper speak for that, but I’s tahred) and having more coffee. We’ll see where they day takes us from there.

Wild and crazy around here. Wild. and. crazy.

PV=nrt, and all that.

I do have an interesting job especially this time of year. Somehow I seem to have inherited Halloween. In two weeks I get to run the shuttle ( 3 buses and a van) for Fantasy Fest which is the 10 day debauchery festival here at Halloween time. We usually shuttle around 600 people the day of the parade which is always on the Sat before Halloween. This year it is the 29th.

The Fall Fest I started 14 years ago was just a tiny little pumpkin decorating thing for little kids. I think the first year it was just 19 people. Now we get 600-700 people and also host the fire department for annual Fire safety week which I think was last week. They will come with fire trucks and an ambulance and do “Stop, Drop and Roll” activities and let the kids check out the fire trucks. Our local Sheriff’s dept. has the only Zoo affiliated with a Sheriff’s dept in the country. The “farmer” will come with some animals for a petting zoo. We will usually have a goat, a mini horse, turtles, ferrets, a snake, a skunk, rabbits and the star of that show is the Sloth.

We have huge inflatables; the usual bounce house, a basketball game and the very big Boot Camp challenge. I used to provide food but it got so big that now we let a committee sell food to raise funds for the Navy Ball.

We have hired a Community recreation person who will eventually take over all this and give me a break.

Rosie I made a small donation to the Go Fund Me account and bumped the thread back up.

I thought I heard a knock at the door and went to check but nobody there.

Since it’s nice out I thought I’d sit a bit and then I saw that the police are at the neighbor’s house. Not the one in the other half of my house, the other ones. I don’t know of he knocked on their door so loudly that I thought it was my door, or if he knocked here first?
Anyway, he was going through their truck, and then he went up and knocked on their door.

The sensible part of me says it’s none if my business, but the nosy part wants to know what is going on.

Slowly catching up. Drove home yesterday and set a new record – 3:10 from Danville to doorstep. So I decided to go in to work and save the UPT; which will mean a fight with HR to get it credited back but I usually have some sort of exchange with them weekly. Knoebels - and the bumpercars - were fantastic and I’ll be horking graphite for a month or more. It rained just enough to keep the amateurs at home and made short ride lines but the craft side was jammed. Other than that it’s back to Siberian Salt Mines Local #419.

Spousal unit got to Cleveland in good time. He said if he can get his business wrapped up quickly, he’ll come back home today. I think he’s insane - he should just crash in his hotel and get a good night’s sleep - assuming he gets a comfy bed. But we shall see.

Meanwhile, I still can’t do any work - my computer is truly borked. I think the software needs to be reloaded. We shall see…
