A Very Memorable MMP

No kids at all! No hubby! Just her…it sounds pretty darn good.

Mika - sounds good to me!

SCL - I’m sorry for your baby kitty.

I am waiting to get my pitcher took. See, my company is making a name change and bein’ as it’s a advertising and public relations outfit, an appropriately glitzy announcement must be made. I don’t know zactly what the dealy is but everybody’s been told to wear a black top of whatever kind and the pitchers will be in black and white. I HATE getting my pitcher took. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{{{scl}}}}}} I fear I will be in your shoes before too long. POL cat’s vet visit this week confirmed my suspicions that she’s on borrowed time. You have my best wishes for gwen’s passing to be a peaceful one.

Hiya, meeks and drae!

swampy, with any luck, that mess o weather down near Cuber will head our way and drop a load o H2O.

Well, off to poof for the pic.

Tupug

Yeah, I’d take it.

Hello to everyone, especially Drae. It’s nice to see you back here!
Oof. It’s pretty hot today. It’s already hot inside. I don’t want to put in the air conditioner until we have a long stretch of unbearable weather, (because that means we lose the use of our bedroom window all summer) but it’s tempting.

I am waiting patiently to throw up, and wondering if I took my second lot of pills too close to my first, which would account for why I haven’t thrown up yet. I’m off to the doctor today, so I’m composing a list of questions.

Mr. Lissar has a wretched miserable headachey cold…

Nope. Everything’s normal. Sorry. I just threw up.

Anyway, Mr. Lissar has a bad cold, and we’re lying around consoling each other, mostly by passing the ginger ale.

Smile purty puggy. Like this…

Mika sounds like a good deal. She’s a child of the 70s, so I bet she knows partyin’. Knockin’ off some of the rent in exchange for mowin’/blowin’ <snerk> sounds like a good thing especially since she has a mower and blower <snerk>.

Great Og’s nuggets! From about 3pm on yesterday it was unrelentingly busy. I didn’t even get a chance to do much else besides my job. (The nerve!) But I got to come home to the realization that building management had finally turned the damn A/C on! It’s about time, too. It was pretty toasty yesterday. And I slept much better (but still not long enough) last night, too. Now this morning I come in and I’ve already taken 8 calls in the last half hour. (That’s pretty dang busy, considering it just now turned 9am.) I suspect we’re in for a slammin’ today, so I’d better get my MMPing done 'fore I’m swamped.

BooFae - It’s a man thing, I think part of the Man Code, in fact: There is nothing, nor any method, so perfect that it cannot be brought up to your own standards.

Mika - I’d be really nervous living right below the landlord/lady. Besides not knowing whether her preferred method of household locomotion is a pogo stick or clogs, or hopefully just fluffy bunny slippers, you never know what she might find objectionable. Does she have super hearing capable of picking up insect flatulence? And does anything louder than that bother her? Is she the snoopy type? (Look for surveillance equipment) I dunno. It would just make me nervous hoping that nothing I do pisses her off. Of course, if she seems genuinely nice and friendly and rather laid-back, then I’d probably feel a little more at ease.

Rebo - I think your storm is headed our way; we’re due for some wet stuff over the next few days.

SCL - That stinks. It’s always hard to lose a companion like that. I hope she lets you say goodbye. Give 'er pettin’s from all of us if you have the opportunity.

Ooh. I don’t feel so good. It’s not anything communicable, so far as I know, unlike that mono-dork at LiLi’s workplace. (I had mono when I was eighteen. I could barely get out of bed, never mind going to work and inflicting myself on co-workers.) It’s also just bad enough to be annoying and make me look sick, but not bad enough that I really need to stay home. Stupid digestive system. I also have a headache on account of crying and not getting enough sleep.

We’ve never lived in the same building as our landlord, but we once lived in a rowhouse right beside our landlord’s mother. She spied on us for him (not that we ever did anything bad or even interesting) and wore the same kind of black dress every day.

Hi Mika, Drae, Special One, and anyone else who’s new and/or returning! :waves: It’s too bad you weren’t in Chicago last weekend, mika. We could have met up with you then too!

I’d say go for the new place, mika. Guilderland’s nice, especially if you’re not too far from the Northway. And you’re right that you’ll be going against traffic for your commutes. Sounds like a good deal… well, except for the having to move part. Bleh. Moving sucks.

Sorry to hear about the kitty, SCL. We’ve been there so we understand. And one of my work neighbors is in the same situation too. He thought he was going to have to have her put down on Tuesday, but she’s still hanging on. It’s tough to watch them go downhill though. :frowning:

It’s good that you’re so supportive of each other TPlay. And we’re always here to listen too.

I haven’t heard of chocolate con churros, Nava. What are they/how are they made?

BooFae, I think you should smack 'im indoors upside the head. Just for fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m bored at work this week. My manager’s out and although she left me some things to work on, there’s not really that much that needs to get done. Bleh.

I would, but I’m too worried he’d enjoy it. I might try hitting him with a frozen trout though. Just for fun.

Morning, all. I’m caffeinating and contemplating doing something useful, but nothing thus far. And yes, I did finish that job last night, Swampy! So there!

Glad to see you back, Meeks. I’d say go for the house, too, but you mostly have to trust your gut feeling. If the woman seems to be as nice aso you think, it could work out to be a great deal. Is there any chance she’d give you the name of a previous tenant to talk to to find out how she is as a landlord right upstairs? Because that might answer your questions pre-lease-signing.

We’d turned the AC on for a couple days because it got really humid, but then the humidity went away. So to all of us folks who’ve suffered through Lousyana heat and humidity, it feels positively delightful, even though everyone around us is complaining about “It’s so hoooot!” So we’ve got the house opened up and will keep it that way as long as we can. And then I’ll have to close it up during the afternoon for a few weeks but open up again at bedtime, before we finally break down and leave the AC on around the clock. It’s a lot nicer to leave it off since we don’t have a doggie door in this house; this way we can leave the back door open for the Idiots without worrying about heating/cooling the great outdoors.

Special One, Rosie is following in the footsteps of us other bionic folks here in the MMP and just got herself a new knee. I got one a few months ago, and BooFae has had both hers replaced. So if you ever get yourself a new body part, you can be bionic, too!

There was an absolutely awful accident on the Beltway yesterday evening – an idiot on a motorcycle swerved so abruptly that he caused the cop who was going to chase him to hit a civilian’s car, who then rolled onto the other side of the Beltway and got five more cars involved in the accident. Tally thus far? 2 dead, 15 injured. And the idiot on the motorcycle got away – but not before the cop managed to turn on his dashboard cam and get some video of him. Something tells me he’s going to get found and they won’t be really happy with him, for some strange reason…

Okay, back to work. Or something.

Hi all. Remember me?!?!?!? So, after a lengthy absence, I am finally back - went home to Australia for 3 months to have my baby and got back home last week. We have been getting over jetlag and settling back in.

But enough about me … my darling Sugarbaby now has a face and a name …

[drumroll] Presenting Noor [/drumroll]

Isn’t she cute?

I am reading through everyone’s posts still, so trying to catch up on the gossip, but couldn’t wait to share pics of my sweetie!

SCL - so sorry about GwenCat

Drae - you should try to stop in at leasat once a week, at least for updates

SpecialGuy(Gal?) - on 4/23, I had my right knee replaced - total replacement with a titanium prosthetic. I was in inpatient rehab from 4/30 to 5/15, and have been housebound ever since. But now that I’ve done the steps, that will end shortly.

Meeks - take the place. If you got a good vibe from the landlady, it shouldn’t be a problem. Just be sure to discuss with her the family coming over and staying late thing, and find out from her about the cutoff hour for noise. I told my tenant no loud noises after 11pm (without prior notification of a party or some such) and the only time he has violated that since moving in last November was a few nights ago. But I didn’t mind since I wasn’t sleeping anyway.

I called the consulate about replacing my passport, and I emailed my school’s international affairs office about my visa and i-94 card. I’ll have to go to the consulate in person to replace my passport. The office told me that I don’t need my visa anymore as long as I won’t be traveling in and out of the US during the remainder of my f-1 status (which I won’t). The i-94 card can be replaced but it’ll take 6 months, during which I can’t leave the US. Which is fine - didn’t have plans to do so anyway. I just hope nothing happens in the meantime (like a family emergency) that would complicate the situation further.

I feel like I feel fine, but I can’t seem to concentrate, and have been experiencing random moments of panic during the day. They’re few and far between, and they don’t last very long, so I’m thinking they’ll go away with time. (And for some reason, every night since Monday I’ve been having bizarre dreams about That Guy. :dubious: )

SCL, I’m so sorry about your kitty. :: hugs ::

BooFae, smacking him with a frozen trout sounds appropriate. Maybe even two frozen trout. On either side of his head.

Must. Finish. Paper. Today!

**Dotty, ** your little one is very cute.

Darling, darling baby! Congratulations and welcome back!

JellyBean, that’s the second cutest baby I’ve ever seen.

Pitcher is took. I smiled more like  cause when I try to smile like  it looks too fake.

dotty, baby Noor is “adoorable!” Welcome back.

Howdy! Been busy! Took Maggie to get her stitches out, and got the biopsy results. It was just a inflamed boil like thing(I had one two years ago{I know pets and their people are supposed to resemble each other, but slimy growths are ridiculous.}) We went to the dog park, and got sniffed. Everybody was sharing their shaved puppy stories. I got laundry going, and am going to mop the kitchen. I’ll drop by work, so the DM can scream at me for following policy.

Dotty, cute baby. She could only be cuter if she was snuggleing a puppy.

Meeks, if the landlord seems sane, go for it.

puggy, you r picute should look like this: :stuck_out_tongue: or this: :dubious: Something that says “I am a professional, do not try this at home.”

Lunchtime!

My sister’s favorite insult to use on me when we were kids was, “If I had a dog as ugly as you, I’d shave it’s butt and teach it to walk backwards.”

Weeeell, When Sadie the VunderDog was a youngin (now deceased, and was elderly), she had a boil on the back of her left thigh, and the vet had to remove it. Of course, her butt was partly shaved… I stuck a pair of sunglasses on her so her tail was the ‘nose’, and took a picture. Much hilarity ensued when I mailed it to my sib…

Oooh! Dotty, she’s gorgeous. Congratulations!
