Man, you have to love an animated Christmas special that includes the line, “That gay albino is hitting on your not-girlfriend.”
[ul][li]Mrs. Impossible is definitely pregnant.[/li][li]Why didn’t Molotov Cocktease show up for the party?[/li]I bet Chrismas in Ünderland sucks. Too bad we didn’t get to see any of it.[/ul]
I have absolutely NO idea what you’re talking about, but “Molotov Cocktease”?? That is absolutely priceless.
I was thinking the same thing, so I went to TV Tome. Here’s the scoop. Sounds…bizarre. I may have to watch it.
Not what I imagined. I figured it was a Winky Holiday Special. <-(
Deck the Hallmonsters with bows of holly
Fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
'Twas amusing. Very amusing.
Glad I remembered to tape it.
I missed it. Will it be repeated soon?
According to TVGuide.com, yes. I’d look it up for you, but I’m lazy. And kinda working. But I recall seeing that there were a few more showings.
A Very Venture Christmas is on again at 12:15 and 3:15 AM EST on December 24.
(And, LifeOnWry, if you like Molotov Cocktease, you might also appreciate the villian whose henchmen all dress in snakeskin: “Nat King Cobra.”)
I thought it was pretty good, except I was a little disappointed by the end.
The first “it was a dream” joke was cute, but then having the whole episode be a dream was a cop out. shame it was only 15 minutes.
Oh, and the CBS special logo at the beginning brought back wonderful childhood memories!
Brock’s berserker rages are always good for a chuckle, but this episode showed once again that Dr. Orpheus is the best character in the whole series.
“Oh, Orpheus. I wasn’t expecting you to show up. Didn’t think NECROMANCERS believed in CHRISTMAS.”
“Well, the whole affair is about as real as KWANZAA, or, uh… the Wookiee’s LIFE DAY, but I find it charming.”
With the CBS ‘SPECIAL’ logo and a Wookiee Life Day reference, they’re aiming right for my demographic. Direct hit!
Yeah, what a riot! Too bad it was only 15 minutes. Other funny stuff:
Dean-in-a-box: Twighlight zone reference?
Trianna getting licked by that kid-stealing monster “Well, he is Germanic in origin”
Brock’s Christmas porn videos
I didn’t see Mrs. Impossible. I’m guessing she was posing as the Virgin Mary or something?
This was the second time this month that I’ve seen a Krampus reference. And I’d never heard of it at all before that. Wierd.
Oh, and I believe that the Dean-in-a-box was a Babes in Toyland reference. Not sure, though, as I’ve never seen the movie, only seen it referenced in scores of other comedic holiday specials.
Nah, she was in the regulation I-Suit. She was hard to spot later on because when the Krampus arrived, Dr. I stretched himself around her a couple of dozen times. It looks like those two are getting along better now that there’s a baby on the way.
It could be (I haven’t seen Babes in Toyland either), but I thought it was a reference to Charlie-In-The-Box from Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Absolutely. “MY DAUGHTER’S MAIDENHEAD IS NOT A PRIZE TO BE WON!” Made all the funnier by the look on her face as he yelled.
The meaning of this exchange just hit me too:
(the Krampus is licking Triana)
“What kind of kinky Christmas spirit is this?!”
“Well it is GERMANIC in origin.”
Gold.
I have Disney’s Babes in Toyland on DVD, and Dean-in-the-Box is definitely not a reference to anything in that film. Just as definitely, chukhung is absolutely correct in speculating that he is a reference to the Charlie-in-the-Box from the Island of Misfit Toys.
I also loved Hank’s Charlie Brown-esque Christmas tree. And learning that Dr. Venture had gone to sleep with his arm on the channel-changing button of his TV’s remote made me fall off the sofa.
Huh. For some reason, I always thought The Island of Misfit Toys was from Toys in Babeland. Wierd.
Miller, you’ve been sneaking a peak at Brock’s “special” Christmas videos haven’t you?
Just for the record, the videos in the back of Brock’s closet were[ul][]Miracle on 69 Street[]Jingle Balls[]Frothy the Blowman[]Rudolph the Redknobbed Reindeer[/ul]
