A virginal MMP!

{{{Baker}}}

Hope you’re feeling better soon, Wabbit

Welcome Pi!

Today has been a productive day for a Monday. One of my cow-orkers is out and I’m covering some of her irk. I also wrote work instructions for one of her reports that I run when she is gone. Someone else will have to be trained for it while I’m out, as she only works four days a week.

Happy Moanday!

Good morning, happy Monday, etc. etc.

Dammit, last Friday’s paycheck disappeared quickly. :frowning: There are rumors that my position at work will change, which wouldn’t automatically come with more moolah but would open up the possibility of being able to negotiate a salary increase (ohpleaseohpleaseohplease) but I don’t count chickens before they’re hatched. Hell, in this case, the damn egg hasn’t even been laid in the first place yet and nobody’s certain of the whereabouts of the hen.

Absolutely lovely weather the last few days and for the next few days: clear, sunny, highs in the low 80s and lows in the upper 50s or low 60s. I’d like to preserve this weather in Baltic amber and set it in an exquisite sterling silver design.

I’d also like to be outside instead of stuck at work in front of a computer, but at least there are lunch and smoke breaks, amirite?

I’m not especially busy (I work at a low-level call center at the state department of insurance), but a lot of people who call in don’t understand how their insurance works. They have Medicare Advantage plans, which are reviewed annually and are renewed at the discretion of the insurance company, or Medicare supplement plans for people on traditional Medicare, and are also reviewed annually and are renewed at the discretion of the insurance company. They think that their insurance company has to offer their specific plan in perpetuity with no changes in benefits or premiums and are rather upset when I have to tell them their insurance company has the right to make these changes.

Then you have people who don’t understand that our department doesn’t regulate Medicare or Medicaid and they demand that I help them because they can’t get through to the respective offices. Or they don’t read the correspondence from their insurance company and think I can snap my fingers together and fix their mistake.

Four more days.

Settlement is scheduled for Wednesday, I’m still not holding my breath.

FIL’s surgery was successful and he’s in his room in lots of pain. **FCD **is taking a nap and I’ll be taking MIL back to the hospital later just to check on things before bedtime. They’ll get him up in the morning and in the afternoon, they’ll put him on some kind of machine that will flex his leg. And in six weeks or so, they’ll do the other knee. ugh.

I think I napped a wee bit, but not much. I did finish reading “I is for Innocent” - I pretty much forgot the whole story, so it’s like reading for the first time!

Time to feed Higgs then feed myself. Here’s hoping I sleep tonight…

Very good!
They have very nice drugs at hospitals. I hope they are giving him some. I had morphine with a button on my chest when I had the joint replacement.

Pupusas. Mrs. Plant (v.2.0) had some at the Honduran restaurant up the street. She tells me that in San Salvadore pupusa refers to, er, a lady’s private parts.

Two fuck ups in one day!

I have been waiting for over a week for my new phone charger. I ordered it off amazon and was offered next day delivery until I changed my address from the armpit to Hagerstown. So I have been waiting and waiting and tracking the package.
Yesterday it said that the package had arrived in Hagerstown on Saturday morning and was scheduled to be delivered today. The mail comes and no charger so I look up the tracking number again ony to find out that it was delivered on Saturday followed by an alert that the package was undeliverable as addressed.
So I called the PO (while I am on hold on the other phone with the Maryland Exchange) only to find out I called the wrong PO and I have 15 minutes to call the other one. I dial the right number and Maryland Exchange comes back to talk to me - that is the other fuck up.
So I get off the phone with them and with a few minutes to spare I get the PO. It seems my package is undeliverable because this house is vacant. WTF???
To deliver the mail here you have to open the storm door and put the mail through a slot in the door. If you are that close you can see the shades in the windows, the boxes in the hallway. the bag of dog food sitting in the kitchen. I’ve gotten other packages from the PO - somebody was just being lazy and didn’t want to do their job.
Fortunately the guy at the PO found the package and it is supposed to come tomorrow.
I won’t hold my breath.

So the Maryland Exchange.
I’m sure we all remember my frustration with trying to get signed up.
That is my health insurance. I haven’t gotten a bill and called them to find out what I owe before I get cancelled. I figure while I have them on the phone I’ll change my address, find out ir my new plan starts Oct 1 or Nov 1 and fix the spelling of my sons name on his card. How they screwed up the spelling is beyond me, Being typical bullshit customer service I have to call one number t pay the bill and another number to change the address and correct the name (neither of number is the one on the postcard I received telling me I needed to call if I want to continue my coverage into 2015 - but that was a different day and a different call.
First they tell me they have no file on me and they need to create one. Oh they have a file on me to create my coverage, they don’t have one to enter changes. Whatever.
So they put my change of address in no problem. Then they need to correct the spelling of my sons name. I have to spell it the incorrect way and the correct way and they I get put on a looooong hold. The girl comes back asks me to spell everything again and I get put on hold again.
Well it seems her system has absolutely no information about me adding my son to my insurance. They have no information on him at all am I sure I added him??? WTF??? I am sitting here looking at his insurance card. If I never added him then how in the hell did I get a card in his name??? That came in the same envelope with my new card???

So now I have to call them back tomorrow and try to find somebody who knows what the hell they are doing and figure this crap out and get his name spelled correctly.

and people wonder why I cuss

**flytrap **- he’s got the magical morphine button so I figure he’ll be out of it all night. We’ll be going back in a little bit to check up on him before coming home to crash for the night.

**sari **- you just can’t catch a break, can you? Fingers crossed on closing. Try to avoid homicide - we’d miss you!!!

One more day in FL - it’ll be our last chance to eat at Sonny’s! Lunch tomorrow, I hope!!

Did some cleaning, walked Gordie a couple of times. Now I have the orange ancho poke chops marinating.

Bummer, sari ,hope you can get everything fixed.

Yay for successful surgery, Moooommmm!.

Congrts on the job change, Rockin!

Shoe, I hate the “I got paid today, why do I have less money than yesterday” feeling, too.

Time to stock up on pointy stick wielding Sri Lankan spiders.

An appropriate book for this MMP.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I used to be in the Navy, FCM. Don’t know who Higgs is, he wasn’t ever in the Navy, was he?

Higgs is a black pug; I don’t believe he was ever military; however, much to Mooommm’s consternation he does regularly like to use (his version of) the head at dark-thirty. :smack:
& is jimbuff as in Parrothead?

Nah, as in Buffalo. Native American.

Damn, that’s too bad about Higgs. I thought maybe he’d been a Boson’s Mate.

You’re new, we’ll cut you some slack (however, there is a quiz on Friday)…

FairyChatMom, FCD, Higgs, & some feline critters live in MD; her in-laws live in FL. They went down because her father-in-law had surgery. Higgs just went for the ride. Tending to Higgs includes things like opening the back door & pouring kibble into a bowl.
The one’s who need your sympathies are FCFiL & Moommm (for putting up with Higgs).

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. 'Twas a great time as usual. Glad to be home though. Been a long day and I am a tahrd bear!

Sari appropriate/inappropriate appendages re this bein’ the for real settlement time. Also, a hoarde of especially po’d PSWSLNPS for the Exchange. They seem to need 'em.

Buffy, or since you’re in Buffalo, maybe wings welcome! Everybody gets a nickname. It’s a sorta consensus thing amongst the Mumpers or not. Somebody may just decide on a nickname for ya and do so by decree. The MMP is all willy-nilly like that.

BTW, Higgs is a she. Taz and Ziva are the feline critters. I know waaaaaay more about the minutiae of MOOOOOOM’s life than may be healthy.

MOOOOOOM enjoy Sonny’s! We haven’t been in a little while. Mayhaps a real soonish trip to the local Sonny’s is in store. Don’t forget to stock up on some sauce while you’re there!

And on that note, I shall now betake my tahrd bear behind to beddybye. I’s sleepified.

Nighty Nite Y’all!

As long as we’re interrogating the newbie, might the “Lenapehoking” in your location refer to the great and majestic state of Pennsylvania, or the hellhole that is New Jersey?

My husband’s father is dying. He’s 92. He has enjoyed life. He’s ready, I think. The sad thing is, hubby isn’t ready. I’m sure, it were his choice, Pop would outlive him.
He’s never lost anyone before. He was too young to remember his grandparents.

He just doesn’t know what to do with himself. He doesn’t want to talk to me, he doesn’t even want me in the same room.
There’s nothing I can do to help. He was my rock when my son died. He wants to be alone. I’ll give him all the space he needs. I’m just afraid he’s going to just get MAD. Not at me, but at the world. He’s not good with emotions. His or mine.

I just don’t know what to do.

Cousin and I have had a lovely afternoon, and yummy “mexican” food for dinner. (the quotes are because this was California Mexican - perhaps you Floridians have heard of Zim Zari?) It was yumful.
Soon we will watch Castle then crash for the night.

I think they settled on Pi up thread. Not in Buffalo, am Buffalo. American Indian. Also, please. I lived through the 1960s tv show Family Affair featuring (among others) a little blonde girl named Buffy. Why couldn’t I have been born 30 years later? At least I might have gotten to kill … things.

Just saw MsRobyn’s post. PA, NJ - once upon a time. It’s a word my father’s aunt, Nora Thompson Dean, put together to indicate The Land of the Lenape. Which is now OK. I’ve … extended it a bit to mean OK as well as our original homeland.

From Lenapehoking.

Just saw picunurse’s post. So sorry to hear what’s happening. I’m one who instinctively seeks to be alone in situations such as he is experiencing. If he does get angry and lashes out, its probably not meant to be personal. Thinking of you and him.
