That’s good news. I think all cats sit and stare while their humans are eating. Ours does the same thing, usually lying on the floor near the table and staring intently at her dish, even if there’s food in it. Any fallen crumb is fair game.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered, nappage was achieved, Netflix watched, and sup got cooked and et. This was the day that was at da cave. Also, been rainin’ pretty steady all day, sometimes really hard. Glad to be inside, warm, and dry.
doggio got confused in his dream. It’s the Gay Mafia, not the Mob. The Gay Mafia is really two guys named Bruce and Guido. They break into Gay men’s houses, re-arrange the furniture all ugly, take pics, and post 'em on the secret Gay Intartoobz. They are brutal! The only shark I have is a vacuum cleaner.
FCD suggested Salsa’s for supper. I got seafood chimichangas. Yum!
The chicken I’d started to thaw will become tomorrow’s supper. Chillage shall ensue tonight.
SIL asked me to watch the Roxstar tomorrow. He’ll drop her off around 9 and daughter will pick her up after school. It should be fun.
I hope that your wife’s health woes are sorted out soon magic.
I feel for your son wordy. The changes in the past year can’t be easy.
doggio, just what were you drinking (or smoking) before going to sleep?
{{{the LAs and Tonka}}}
Went back to irk today and into a shitshow. I’ll likely be irking over for the rest of the week to clean up what the dumbass inventory accuracy coordinator in one of my departments and her hormone- driven baby daddy (lead in receiving) have managed to create. My manager being a pushover for the delay of counting this area is also partly to blame. Like doggio, good thing I’m hourly.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Took Gordie out, we ran into Woody and his human. And the neighbors were treated to 2 geriatric terriers yelling “GET OFF MY LAWN!” at each other. Chipolte BBQ chicken, roasted chicken rice, and sauteed green beans with peppers and onions for dinner tonight.
So why did they want my racing slicks?
Evening all. Nappage turned into sleepage (2 hours) this afternoon, so maybe best that I did all my shopping this morning. 2sday Mac-n-Cheese has been assimilated and we’re getting some rain for the night. Did finish up almost all of my soccer stuff, still need some of the coaches to ‘git-er done’ when it comes to training, but looks like we can start the season on-time.
I sense some…skepticism on my “International Arms Dealer” comment. I worked for the Department of Defense for 34 years, 28 of them in Foreign Military Sales, which is when a Foreign government wants to buy a weapon’s system directly from the US Government. I wrote the agreement, managed the money, reported progress to the foreign customer, and in general facilitated the purchase. Worked in the Helicopter field, so sold Huey’s, Apaches, and Blackhawks (and the occasional MD-500) to customers on 3 continents. As a bonus, got to see parts of the world (Pyramids, Panama Canal, Dubai) I would probably have never seen without that job. So I stand by my description.
Jim, closest I ever came was nearly mugged in Panama City; luckily I spotted them coming and was with several friends who also were alert so when they tried, we foiled them for a few seconds until our guide (who was 6’8") turned and yelled, whereupon they took off).
red, the ability of leads to FUBAR things is not uncommon. Hope you can sort it out.
bob-bob, glad to hear Mrs. Bob has been shot once…
nellie, good news. I’ll have to remember that.
flyboy, good on Tonka, hope she is with you as long as she’s able.
cookie, never had a gun drawn on me, that’s an advenrture I can do without. Been on buses with a armed escort at times…
OW, Promise to tell you.
OK, need to get back to internettin’. All y’all take care.
Went for 5 mile walk. New sneakers caused abrasions, one on previous abrasion. Sat down to try to alleviate pressure on my heels and twisted my back. Conclusion: walking is bad for you. Don’t do it.
MetalMouse, we owe you an apology. Still waters certainly run deep. Bet you have lots of fascinating stories to tell.
As do I. ![]()
bob-bob, I’m happy Mrs. Bob got poked…er, shot…er, stuck…er, needled.
red, sorry you got stuck having to fix the stupidity of others. At least you get paid for your time. Still… ![]()
Maybe for this.
No self respecting Gay man would decorate his house with that awful stuff. Not any that I know anyway.
Jim
nellie, the lead is usually pretty bright, but when it comes to his dealings with the kitting department, where baby mama is the IAC, hormones take over. Baby mama has managed to f*** up things in several departments during her tenure there. Her brother is in middle management and her dad just retired from the place. Baby daddy is a legacy too: his dad is a supervisor on the fulfillment line and his grandmother used to have the position (and was damn good at it) Baby mama has before retirement. She’s pretty much like that rotten kid that gets promoted every year because no one wants them back in their class, only no one wants to make waves with other family members.
Jim, the biggest travel related scare that I’ve had, barring an auto accident, was once, when SIL and I were in the hills on the Tennessee - Virginia border, we pulled into a little two pump, gravel lot gas station, since the little truck was running on fumes. We were in the middle of BFE before GPS was common (and in those hills, reception would have been an issue), so we really didn’t know if we could make it to the next stop. I just stepped out of the truck to pump gas when we heard the distinct sound of gunshots far to close for comfort. I hopped back in and we bailed. Fortunately, we found another station (it even had some kick ass fried baloney sandwiches) before we ran out of gas.
I just found out that group 1c (the one that I’m in) may begin getting shot as soon as next week. As soon as we’re slated, I’ll schedule one. Yay! Travelling again this summer.
Swampy said this:
I was merely (and facetiously) proposing that Bruce and Guido might use the racing slicks to make ugly furniture since they’re so brutal.
Princess Allie doesn’t. She finds human food very uninteresting, except for the one time she ate a little bit of a graham cracker.
Thank you for a hugely entertaining story. You have a way with words. When come back, please share more … ?
Matter of fact, this has turned into a wonderfully entertaining M.M.P. and I appreciate all the chuckles.
Dinner tonight was chicken wings, fried okra, and onion rings. I was honnnngry for the 1st time in a long time. I had a lovely phone call the other night with my I.T. Guy and I’m still processing all that was said but I can say for certain that’s the reason for my abruptly improving mental health (and appetite).
Slightly unhappy digestive system (a co-irker was having serious nausea problems today. I hope she didn’t have something contagious), trying to decide between vanilla yogurt or plain buttered rice for dinner.
Parents got their second shots and partook of Kidd Valley as part of their recovery plan. I used to get my allergy shots in the U district (Seattle) so we always stopped at the Kidd Valley on the way home for a shake.
Also stopped there after I got my wisdom teeth out, but didn’t use the straw, off course.
My defense related claim to fame is that I worked on the documentation for the Abrams Tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle training. During that time I worked with a retired army guy who had worked in the DMZ, but didn’t talk much. Wasn’t very tall, and wasn’t fat and lots of muscle, but not muscle bound. He could eat. He would always get two meals when we would go out to lunch and finish both. Never ate sweets.
Today is another early start. Got the second load of sheets in the washer and now I need to get on the computer for a meeting with 20+ people. Blech.
In other celebratory news, husband’s nephew is home from the hospital. Poor guy, he got his grandfather’s mental health. Fortunately he got his mother’s staunch support and love. Got ours as well, but virtual hugs are a sad substitute for the real thing.
Happy Mittwoch!
Is there a word for the opposite of the placebo effect? I finally got up the nerve to take one of the tablets that might possibly maybe help with one of my vision issues. However, the medication can, in rare instances and at higher doses, cause severe, potentially fatal rashes requiring hospitalization–it’s a side effect, not an allergic reaction. Due to good ol’ lupus, I tend to be rashy and have had some horrible cases of hives; hence my hesitation.
Now I’m itchy and can’t sleep. As far as I know, this stuff doesn’t cause rashes at the starting dose, but I have the Barney Fife of subconsciouses.
Holy handbags, I feel terrible.
On Saturday, I had a couple episodes of shaking chills, and on Sunday, PWAISDN tells me I had a fever of 104.7.
He got ahold of my surgeon who said “get him to the ER now!” so he did. I’ve been here now since Sunday morning, with no release date planned yet. Many IV bags of antibiotics later, and three or four CT scans, plus ultrasound and X-ray I’m still here. As one of those things that can just happen, I picked up a C.Diff infection and a whole protocol for trying to not spread it to anyone else.
At least one bright spot was I got delivered to one of the scans by a tall guy, who asked if I’d like for him to make the bed longer. < blink > You can do that? Yes, please! Much more comfortable!
In fact, there is. The nocebo effect (I will harm instead of placebo’s I will please)
Good luck with the meds!
Back in the day, I used to work for a manufacturer. When we got some new management with spiffy new ideas on reducing inventory they changed the system in the stores.
There was a whole section for small parts - screw, washers, bolts, and some that had to be made to order. They were stored in long drawers with a small compartment at the back.
The storeman knew from long experience the lead time for each part and kept the appropriate quantity at the back. When he started on that, he would order more.
They did away with all that - computers will sort it - a few months later parts of the production line ground to a stop for want of parts.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and maybe N.O.S. this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB have got willy-nilly down to an artform! This mornin’ I shall take twuck in for its oil change/check up. I intend to be there when the place opens up at seven-thrity (really before then) so I can get in and out of there relatively quick. After that I shall betake myself to the Food Kitty, or whatever it might be today, to lay in some provisions. OYKW shall procure other provisions from the Pubic Sto’. Also, I need to go over to the church house to deal with some church janitor Junior Warden duties. We shall have a late N.O.L./early sup at the hog trough Golden Corral, just cause.
{{{gotti}}} YIKES! Glad to know you’re on the mend from that. Hope you get sprung soonest.
red sometimes ya just have to say to yourself, over and over, “it all pays the same.”
nellie here’s hopin’ the meds do their thing with no awful side effects.
nettie hope the tummy woes are better today.
shoe glad the mental health and appetite are better.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Woe!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Good morning, folks. I hope today is better than yesterday. I took the Jeep in to be serviced, and found out that I’m in need of new tires. Figures. Humbug. So, that’s on the agenda for later this week, I guess. They’ll call when they have them, and get me set up, properly. I hope it’s soon, since I don’t like the thought of driving on tires that need replaced. Always something.
I don’t know what my plans are for today, other than the usual hovelwork, and the folding of laundry. I can hardly contain my excitement.
It’s supposed to get up to around 60F, today. That’ll be nice. Sunny, too! I can deal with that. About time, though. It seems like it’s been a long winter.
Also, yesterday, I got my, and my husband’s, appointment for getting shot, all taken care of. We go in on the 13th. I called the 211 number, and it worked flawlessly. I was surprised it was so easy. I expected a run-around. But, nope! It was easy, and I’m thankful!
Have a nice, uneventful day, everyone.
