Aaaagh! What's the song that VH1 is using in its promos for "Hogan Knows Best"?

See title. The quick clip that plays at the end of the promo is just wordless vocalizing: “Whoo-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, oooh-ooh-ooh.” The singer’s male, I think. I’m pretty sure it’s a recent song, but I don’t think it’s a big hit - if I had to guess, it would be one of those bands that’s sort of between indie and mainstream, like Of Montreal or The Shins - in fact, it’s The Shins that I keep thinking of, but I doubt it’s them. I’ve dug through my CDs and asked two of my friends, one of whom also recognized it but didn’t know what it was. We searched the VH1 website and googled up a storm last night, but to no relief. This is driving me crazy, because I know I’ve heard the song hundreds of times.

Other details, dredged from my memory - accuracy not guaranteed:
Sounds like two guitars in the clip
Bright production
The “whoo-ooh” line sounds SLIGHTLY like the keyboard line at the end of “Just What I Needed” by The Cars

Was it “Woo Hoo” by the 5.6.7.8’s? The song was in Kill Bill, vol. 1, if you want to check.

I knew someone would say that! Nope, I know that song. This is a guy singing, and it’s a recent song - maybe new-new wave or power pop.

Also, I mistranscribed the whoos. More like “whoo-ooh, whooh-ooh ooh ooh.”

Gorram it! I thought I finally had an answer before someone else. Sorry, can’t be of help.

For all those poised on the edges of their seats in suspense, I figured it out. It’s “Letter From an Occupant” by The New Pornographers. I knew it was something I’ve heard hundreds of times!
