ABC's fall schedule

Link. They really are going ahead with the caveman sitcom. Sigh.

Wow! What a load of derivative schlock! Nothing there to draw me away from reading, crosswords, or surfing the net.

I have to say that, from what I read in the linked article, not a single one of the new shows really appeals to me.

Also, does anybody still watch “According to Jim”? Did anybody ever watch it? Apparently its fate hasn’t been decided yet. Who knew?

Hey It worked for Hanna Barbara…

Dang, no Football Wives. Was really looking forward to that one. Kinda floored by that, actually. Brian Singer directing, one heck of a cast…oh well.

Knights of Prosperity was ridiculously funny. Damn them for cancelling it.

All of these seem to have potential, but of course, it’s all in the execution, not the premise. I do like Applegate, though.

_“Carpoolers,” a comedy about four men from different backgrounds who get together each day for some male bonding on the drive to work.

_“Miss/Guided,” a comedy about a former high school geek who returns to her alma mater as a guidance counselor, only to see an ex-cheerleader and former nemesis come back as an English teacher.

_“Sam I Am,” a comedy with
Christina Applegate about a woman who awakes from a coma with no memory, only to find out she was a creep before

I’m guessing Ugly Betty is fine?

It appears that it is the only thing I’ll watch on ABC next season. A lot of the new things they came up with seem terrible but I’ve been wrong before.

I just made a post on the NBC thread about my plan for the upcoming season, but there’s even less on ABC that I watch than there. That’s a second on damn them for cancelling Knights of Prosperity, since that was pretty much the only show I WAS watching. ABC also cancelled Six Degrees, which was another excellent show.

I’m going to wait to see if any of these new shows even get picked up for a full season before I invest any time in them. That just leaves Desperate Housewives, which I’m almost ashamed to admit I even watch at all, even though it’s primarily because two of my female friends are obsessed with it (one of them also tried to drag me into Grey’s Anatomy too, but I managed to get out of that shitfest soap opera about 5 episodes in) and I can tolerate it pretty well (and some of the characters remind me of actual neighbors and parents of friends I had growing up in Connecticut).

“Dirty Sexy Money” might have promise. It’s been a while since we’ve had a really good nighttime soap. Other than that, looks pretty craptastic.

No news is good news, I suspect – they don’t mention Dancing with the Stars, either, and you know that will be back. (Yay!)

Though some of the new shows sound lame, I’m sure one will end up being an unexpected breakout and actually be better than most people expect.

In the meantime, it looks like Betty & Lost are the only things on ABC I’m interested in.

Same here. And Boston Legal.

Eli Stone – lawyer has an aneurysm (sp?) and starts having visions? Sounds a lot like NBC’s Raines to me. Dammit.

No love for Big Shots?

Any show with Christopher Titus, Joshua Malina and Michael Vartan can’t be all bad.

Actually, any show that brings Titus back to TV is cool by me.

“Pushing Daisies” sounds interesting to me. It comes from Bryan Fuller, a writer and exective producer on “Heroes.”

Wow, that sounds ridiculously convoluted. If it ever gets as popular as Lost I can just imagine the trainwreck threads it’ll create.

To me, it doesn’t sound any more convoluted than “Dead Like Me,” which I liked a lot. Then again, it may be more of a “Ghost Whisperer,” which I didn’t like at all. Oh, well, it’s worth a shot.

And, in fact, Bryan Fuller created Dead Like Me. That was a great show.

The gift in Pushing Daisies is a bit like Ben’s gift in HBO’s Carnivale. He could heal, but when he did, someone or something nearby would die.

The thought of having a “gift” like that is absolutely dreadful, but it could be watchable, if the guy isn’t too angsty.

Well, good. I won’t have to devote a whole lot of space on my DVR for ABC this fall.
