Well, How Is The New TV Season Going For You?

Regarding NEW shows this season:

I watched three episodes of Journeyman…that was it for me. Dropped it from my DVR list. Some shows were too horrible in the pilot to even put on the list: Cavemen and Carpooling for example.

And although I thought Chuck was funny in the pilot episode, it seems to have turned into a less-than-funny mess and I have deleted it from my list as well.

I still have two episodes of Big Shots to see, but am leaning towards dropping that one as well. (Mad Men is similar in theme, but a far better show.)

Other shows that are “on the fence” are Life, Cane and Pushing Daisies.

So far, I like Dirty, Sexy Money, Back To You and Women’s Murder Club (although only one show - the pilot episode - so far, it looks promising). I am sure I am forgetting some, but so far, this season looks to be pretty forgettable.

So, which shows do you like and which have you already written off?

I am with you on Journeyman, I couldn’t even finish the second episode. I am REALLY liking Diry Sexy Money and Pushing Daiy’s. I have heard great things about Life, but haven’t gotten around to watching any of the episodes yet. (I have them all TiVoed)

I am also surprisingly fond of Gossip Girl, which I only started watching because Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) does the voice over. But it is a good light teenage soap, and frankly I have always had a soft spot for those.

I am done with Bionic woman and Chuck and Reaper are on the fence for me. I think there is only room for one of them (anyone else notice that they are almost the exact same show?) and I might keep watching Chuck, I might stop watching both.

As far as returning shows…I am loving Heros, Dexter, and 30 Rock. But am very disapointed with the office so far this season. It is just going for silly and is starting to lose a lot of that dark edge that I used to love about it.

The new season of new shows is doing better for me than usual. I really like “Pushing Daisies”, I am still watching “Chuck”, “Reaper” & “Torchwood”. The last new show I actually kept watching was “My Name is Earl”, so I am not an easy audience member to reel in. Still watching four new shows this far into the season is unusual for me.

Jim

I just can’t believe nothings been cancelled yet- I thought for sure Cane wouldn’t last a month.

I’m still watching Reaper and The Big Bang Theory.

Bionic Woman is pretty bad and I think I will soon take it off my list. I had predicted it would fold mid-season and based on what I’m seeing I suspect I was right.

Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are the only new things that have made it into permanent rotation. I started out watching Cane and liked it well enough but just sort of forgot it was on and don’t care enough about it to try to pick it back up. Bionic Woman I’ll watch on the Sci Fi repeat if I think about it and there’s nothing else on.

The only new show that has made it into my every-week watching plan is Chuck. I have heard it described as a “not very funny mess” right here in this very thread. That may well be true. I don’t know. I will watch the show until it goes off the air or until I die, because the female lead whose last name I cannot pronounce is - ahem - awfully cute.

I think Nashville’s on hiatus already.

We like Pushing Daisies and Big Bang Theory. Granted, those are the only two new shows we’ve tried, but nothing else interested us.

Strangely, the rule seems to be: TV shows that have a character named Chuck are good (*Chuck *and Pushing Daisies), yet movies with Chuck are bad (I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Good Luck Chuck, and the assorted Chuckys)

I am starting to wonder about Cane. I’ll probably give it a couple of more episodes, but it’s getting rather meh.

I like Journeyman, mainly because I’m a big Rome fan and I loved Quantum Leap.
**
Big Bang Theory** is my guilty pleasure

Pushing Daisies charms me.

Cane. Saw the pilot…have trouble telling the generations apart – everyone seems the same age. Have another ep in the queue that I haven’t seen yet, and don’t feel compelled.

Journeyman. Blah. Gone.

Reaper. Loved the pilot; heard bad things (here) about ep #2, which I haven’t seen yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Big Shots. Aka “Desperate CEOs”, with a country club standing in for Wisteria Lane. Saw the pilot; my wife liked it more than I did, so we’ll probably stick with it.

Back to You. Loved the pilot; ep #2 lapsed into totally predictably sit-com mode. Teetering on the brink.

Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money: winners. keepers.

Private Practice. Recorded the pilot and never got around to watching it.

I plan on catching Samantha Who? tonight.

I’m liking Life, Pushing Daisies, Moonlight, Big Bang Theory. I think I’m dumping Bionic Woman and maybe Chuck.

Watched the pilot, not interested:
Bionic Woman

Couldn’t even make it through the pilot:
The Big Bang Theory
Life
Chuck
Carpoolers
Definitely enjoying so far:
Pushing Daisies

It’s amazingly good, but only a miniseries:
Five Days
One thing I’ve noticed is that I seem to have lost my ability to overlook a laugh track. I loved Friends, but now shows like The Office, 30 Rock and Arrested Development have spoiled me.

Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money for me too. I’m not loving-loving them, which is good, in case they don’t succeed.

I’d like to put a new comedy in the rotation, but I need one that doesn’t include a laugh track, or a live audience. Are there any?

Oh dammit, now I feel the need to find a good movie with the word “Chuck” in the title. Thanks a lot.

ETA: That was easier than I thought. Not a personal favorite, but not bad.

Winners in my book: **Chuck, Reaper.
**
Liking it so far, but:Life, Journeyman, Pushing Daisies, & Back To You, but those last are on vs each other, and so far I am picking Pushing Daisies, although I did enjoy the 2 epis of Back To You I saw. Life is looking to much like a show where the whole point is unraveling the “BIG MYSTERY” which they never will. :frowning: :dubious:  . And Journeyman has that really fucking weird love quadrangle that is getting really fucking annoying, not to mention the “BIG MYSTERY”. Dudes at the Networks- Lost makes the “BIG MYSTERY” work. But we aren’t going to trust you anymore on any new show as you cancel them, *without revealing the *“BIG MYSTERY”.

Guilty pleasure, will watch if nothing else is on, and I have spare time: Big Shots

Will give it one more chance: Moonlight

Loser:** Private Practice**

Not yet seen but want to: **Samantha Who?, Women’s Murder Club **Bionic Woman, Viva Laughlin

Haven’t seen, don’t want to: **Cane, Cavemen
**

Oh right, forgot about that one. Watched the first couple of episodes, forgot it was on the next week and didn’t miss it.

Love - Chuck, Pushing Daisies

Like - Bionic Woman

Eh - Moonlight (which I really wanted to like)

Didn’t see but wanted to - Dirty Sexy Money, Reaper (too many conflicts at that time period) - will probably catch them in DVD, if possible

Tivoed but haven’t watched yet - 3 eps of Journeyman

Old favorites - Biggest Loser, Survivor, Bones, L&O:SVU

Back to You is the only one I’ve seen and liked so far. But it does have the potential to start sucking depending on what direction they take it. Burrows is a good director though, so it may stay watchable.

I half watched Cavemen and it was far worse than I even imagined. I really hope they pull the plug and soon!
