ABC's "The Practice": Last Night Was Season/Series Finale

They aren’t sure, but last night most likely was the series finale of The Practice.

From all reports, David Kelly and the cast were none to pleased to be yanked from the Sunday night slot and moved to Mondays. Ratings started to tank in the new slot as well. David Kelly has threatened to either pull the plug or sell the show to a different network.

Thus, the second of the two back to back episodes last night was titled, “Goodbye”.

I thought both episodes were quite good. And if this was the series finale, it went out well.

What happened in the second hour? I had to go to bed.

If it is the end of “The Practice” (or “Whiny People” as my wife and I call it), I’ll be sad to see it go. After two “off” seasons (Ron Livingston?), I thought it was pretty solid this year. Steve Harris is SO cool as Eugene.

The second hour:

Sub plot was a man who had been on the run for 10 years for supossedly killing his brother’s wife because she had stabbed and killed his brother. However, her body had never been found. (Confused yet?) Now, 10 yrs later, he was happily married and claimed he hadn’t murdered his brother’s wife, but had helped her stage her own death - seems brother was a creep and deserved to die and he wanted his brother’s wife to go free. (Still not confused?) He said he loved his brother’s wife and after the fake death, they ran away together but, 8 months later, she left him. He moved to California and met his current wife and that was the story. (Think you understand?)
Just when it was to go to trial, an anonymous bottle arrived at DA’s with intstructions to dust for prints. They were fresh prints of the supposed “murder victim”. Case dropped.
At the last minute, you find out that current wife IS the supposed murder victim after plastic surgery.
Other plot was Bobby announces he is resigning from the firm as of now. (Plans to open a small office by himself) Lots of sad faces, confrontations, but in the end, that is what happens and Lindsey is asked to come back to The Practice as a full partner, and yes she can bring her new attorney with her. A nice couple of short flashbacks at the end showing how it all began, and Bobby turns off the lights and leaves the building.
If they decided to bring back the show next season, things haven’t changed all that much, but if this is it, it was a nice quiet ending.)

Damn. I love the Whiners. Really. Although I never saw any chemistry between Lindsey and Mr. Sourpuss. Jeez! If you shoved a piece of coal up his ass, in two weeks you’d have a diamond! I mean, did you ever once see him smile? Laugh? Goof around a little? This guy looks like a cigar store indian.

I hope they bring it back. I can’t imagine it failing. Everyone I know watches it, and I consider myself a pretty average slice of American Taste, boring sitcom-wise. It’s the Cream of the Crap, as they say.

After 5 or 6 incredibly bad episodes at the beginning of the season (so awful I couldn’t believe I hadn’t turned it off) I stopped watching. I did tape last night, because I guessed it might be the finale.

I’m not sorry to see it go. I doubt it was the move to Monday that killed it, but the incredible decline in quality - the show needed way better writers (which they weren’t getting) or a wrapup.

Does that mean Lara Flynn Boyle can resume eating?

Bwahahahaha!
