"The Practice"--some questions (spoilers)

  1. When did Anderson Pearson get out of prison, and how?
  2. Where is Helen Gambel?

And in general, anyone want to discuss this show?

I have only recently started watching this show, mostly reruns on FX, and I love it! I think it is very well acted and written. And I love Eugene and Marcia Gay Hardens character. Thats about all I have.

Anderson Pearson: At Lindsey’s urging, Judge Hiller reduced his murder conviction to involuntary manslaughter, with a sentence of IIRC, 2-5 years. It’s been long enough for him to have gotten out.

Helen’s still around. She wasn’t in this episode, but she has figured prominently in some earlier ones this season.

Oh, OK, I think I just saw Lindsay’s plea to the judge to reduce the conviction on one of the various repeats, but I didn’t see the outcome. Thanks.

Next question is who’s this new guy in the opening credits? I have missed at least one episode this season (the season premiere apparently, as I never saw an announcement of when that would be) and I don’t recall ever seeing him. I’m guessing he’s a new ADA to replace the slain Richard Bey but who is he?

Generally I’ve been a little disappointed in the show this season. It’s sort of a carry-over from some disappointment I’ve been having all along, which is that the show can very easily fall into a formula of “lawyers find out something that puts them in an ethical dilemma, whatever do they do to resolve it?”. And they just keep getting more and more outrageous in their examples of ethical dilemmas. When the show is on, it’s really on, and that’s usually when they’re in court.

One of my favourite pieces of teevee dialogue comes courtesy of The Practice:

Classic!

Sorry Otto, I stopping watching the show a while back and cannot do justice to your questions.

Major fan here… been watching the FX stuff just to catch up to where I started watching, which was around the Vogelman trial.

If it’s all new to you, you’re in for a treat. There’s some bullshit, but hey, 22 episodes a year, it’s hard to be great all the time.

And Camryn Manheim rocks.
