About my mom

TS - what a beautiful post. You and Zenmonger will be in my thoughts for sure.

Mom’ll be OK… the squid is patient and will not be denied his initiation pleasures - and he Has Pull with a lot of higher-ups, including Og and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

TheodoreStriker , you sound like a wonderful son, apple not falling far from the mother tree, it seems

I’ll keep you, your family and Zenmonger in my thoughts.

Yeah, I forgot, welcome to the Dope, Zenmonger!

I am the praying type, and I’ll definitely be lifting Mom up in prayer in the days to come.

I’m also the big boohooing crying type, too, apparently.

What an awesome story and Mom you have! Prayers for her and you…

Broomstick, thank you for the great perspective on this. We are indeed lucky that this was discovered at all, and that the technology and skill is there to make it possible to be operated on. We are also very lucky that there is a willing and capable surgeon here in town that will do the surgery the way it is being done in order to minimize other possible damage. In reality, the odds are well with her on this, and chances are in a few months she will just have an even better life story to tell.

I do have an amazing mom, and only just recently have I realized how strong of a person she has been and has become. She is being much braver than I am about this all, and her plan is to just pick up where she was interrupted, and that is that. She is an inspiration.

I appreciate the thoughts, wishes, and prayers, and almost more than all of that, I appreciate this place giving me the opportunity to tell everyone about my mom.

I will keep you, your mom, and your family in my thoughts. This was a lovely post–one of the many reasons I love this board.

What PandaBear77 said. And welcome Zenmonger!

What a beautiful tribute and I’m tickled that your mom got to read it and post here!

Bestest wishes to both of you and can’t wait to hear more from your mom!

Our family will keep your family in our prayers. Good to have you with us, zenmonger!

Thanks everyone again, getting it out and hearing from others has been incredibly encouraging. The big day is tomorrow morning, and I am looking forward to hearing mom’s incoherent ramblings while under the influence of pain meds tomorrow evening. I am going to encourage her to do an “ask the woman who just had vascular brain surgery” when she feels up to it.

Please keep the good thoughts and prayers coming. I beleive the surgical waiting area has wifi, so I will hopefully be able to update the thread through the day tomorrow. If nothing else I will have my laptop and be able to kill time playing Civ, as they expect the surgery to take 5-7 hours.

We’ll all be thinking of you and your mom tomorrow. Hang in there and remember to eat something! I always forget when I’m in the waiting room.

Okay, it’s great to think about her tomorrow, but may be better served for Thursday now. Apparently the neurosurgeon was in Italy for a coneference, and is now stuck there due to outbound flights being cancelled. We are actually all fairly amused by this.

Ok.

:: shifts thinking window to Thursday at 6:00 am::

Best of wishes to your mom for a speedy recovery.

And a safe flight for the surgeon!

Sending out a wish for a successful surgery and a quick recovery!

Best wishes to your zenmonger. That’s a very moving OP you wrote, Striker.

Well tell zenmonger she had better hurry up and get better, the squid is getting impatient.

Seriously, hang in there, and warm healing thoughts are headed your way.

Is your mom’s surgery still scheduled for tomorrow? Did the surgeon make it back from Italy?

Go easy, dude, I have a feeling things are going to work out. People you don’t know, and in reality will probably never even met, lest know, understand this and are givin you support, through some kind of 'lectric TV screen thing and shit. From millions of miles away.

Rock On Dude’s Mom!

Word to your mother. And I mean that.
