About that lawyer shot on TV in 2003, what was the beef?

In November 2003 the lawyer Gerald Curry was shot on live TV by William Strier. He dodged behind a tree, and was hit, but lived. The shooter was tackled as he walked away. I think most people probably remember the shooting as it was all over the news at the time.

Strier has been sentenced to life in prison. I just caught the tail end of a followup report on TV about the case.

Curry apparently had a client who was the trustee of a trust fund for Strier, which contained funds from an injury settlement. Strier said that Curry and the trustee took his money. Does anyone know exactly what Curry’s problem was, why he shot him? I can’t find a comprehensive article online.

Does anyone know offhand, or has anyone run across any good articles?

Here’s an article from the time it happened…
