I have a friend who really was abused and she seen this thread. She did not find it funny. But when she read all your posts she laughed so hard because you guys tore me apart. After several years of my older sister throwing punches at me whenever she didn’t get her way, I finally hit her back.
Sure, she’d gone from just throwing punches to actually pulling a butcher’s knife (from the kitchen wall) on me. Sure, it was only a couple of weeks after our mother died and she was simply spoiling for a fight in order to get over her grief(?).
But I shouldn’t have hit her back. I’ll regret that to my dying day, and my lasting guilt over hitting her has led to some severe psychological problems.
Eight years later, I’m still a bit pissed that she thought she could hit me with impunity, though.
I’m not asking for understanding, my retaliation was despicable, but I’m not the one who brought violence into the equation.
/we’re now estranged; I’ve had far more than enough of arguing with her for one lifetime.
