So how did they get the audience to hold their applause until the end of the in memoriam segment? Usually it’s a popularity contest in that some get enthusiastic applause, others get tepid applause and some get none.
I was shocked at the “In Memorium” part. There were so many I have enjoyed and had no idea they were gone (I don’t pay close attention that stuff, obviously, but still…that was a sad surprise to me).
I’m rooting for Annette Bening (for Nyad) but I’d be fine with Stone or Sandra Huller. The prevailing buzz is that it goes to Lily Gladstone. My bias here is that I’ve seen all the movies the nominees are in exceptKillers of the Flower Moon, so I have no basis for comparing Gladstone with the others – but damn, those three actresses were all fantastic in their roles!
I have not seen all the films but ISTM best director could have reasonably gone to anyone. Kinda wished it went to someone else other than Nolan. Not that he didn’t deserve it, but that others did too and Oppenheimer has done well as it is.
