Happened in the dorms…still ongoing. Gunman on the loose.
Can’t be true. That’s a gun-free zone.
I wonder what “a domestic situation” refers to.
The article says that neither of the deceased were students. It doesn’t seem to be a random shooting, not that this is much better. Maybe once we know who the victims were, we will know more.
Prayers for the safety of all involved.

Shodan
My niece’s kids are safe, so that’s good. But there are two families who will be getting bad news, and my heart goes out to them.
Just read that the dude shot his parents when they came to pick him up for spring break. Grain of salt warning: Read this on comments on Facebook, however by three different individuals, commenting on three different links to the story said largely the same thing. Could be just the rumor swirling around Mt. Pleasant right now, or there could be truth to it. Who knows.
Political jabs are not allowed in breaking news threads in MPSIMS. It’s a jerky comment as well.
Not tolerating politicizing a breaking news story.
Freep says the same thing:
That seems to be what happened. Domestic violence as opposed to campus violence. But as far as I know, he is at large so if you’re in the area, please be careful
"The suspected shooter was hospitalized Thursday night after what may have been a bad reaction to drugs, police said. "
While I was reading a news story about this minutes ago, the headline suddenly changed to . . .
“Plainfield teen accused of shooting parents dead at Michigan university; father was cop, Iraqi war veteran”
but the story itself didn’t change.
I’ve been expecting for the boy to be found dead (suicide), but I realized the headline is ambiguous. Does “dead” refer to the teen or his parents?
I think it just refers to his parents. The story says there is a manhunt going on for the shooter.
Gunman arrested within the past hour.
Oh, shit I am so happy he’s apprehended.
Glad to hear they got him.
I work at an elementary school fairly close to this. It made for a tense day, all schools appropriately on lock down. It is so difficult explaining to kids as young as 3 as to why their day is unexpectedly different. I’m glad he has been found, but sad for him as well as angry at what he has done. It sounds as if the hospital possibly dropped the ball on this. Not that I don’t think he should be held responsible in all ways, but disappointed in the hospital as well.
I wonder if there would be fear and lock downs if he had waited to kill his parents until they took him home.
That’s a good point. If the same exact thing happened in their home, it wouldn’t have caused the same reactions. I know that in our case, we did not know for awhile what had happened. Initially we were told that 4 people had been shot on campus, 2 that died. As details emerged that it was a domestic situation, fears subsided but we remained in lock down. I’m sure that it would have been different if it had not happened on campus, though our risk would have been the same.
So I have near by neighbors here.
We were over that way on Friday, wasnt sure if we wanted to go to Mt P or to Alma. He wanted to go to Mt P and I didnt want to since I wanted to go home after getting groceries. In Mt P there are so many places to stop. It was about 10am
Glad I got my choice.
Shocker for sure-gun violence gettin closer
I figured they’d find the kid dead from suicide when they found him. Wondering if he is on a suicide watch. I also thought, at that time, that if he was in the hospital the night before, perhaps he was still strung out when he killed his parents.
I havent heard any update so I guess I’ll have to go google.
