ActiveSync and Bluetooth serial ports

Is there a way, under Windows XP, to prevent ActiveSync from complaining about and disabling inaccessible serial ports when the Bluetooth dongle is not plugged in?

Try right clicking on the ActiveSync icon in the system tray, and then disable “Allow connections to one of the following”. See if that helps. Although you might have to re-enable that option every time you plug in the Bluetooth dongle.

I should have been more clear. I know I can do that, but is there a way to prevent having to manually enable and disable the serial port when the dongle is not attached? I tried turning off “Automatically connect”, but ActiveSync still complained.
