Actor Luke Perry hospitalized for "massive" stroke [EDIT: RIP]

Wow. Sad to hear.

I am in the same cohort as he. Sorta scary.

I was obsessed with 90210 when I was in 8th grade. I remember us gushing over it in school with my friends. (“OMG, did you watch last night?!?! OMG, can you BELIVE IT!!! OMG!!!”)

Did he have a history of health issues, or was this something sudden?

Having spent almost ten years by now helping to look after my mother, who had a massive stroke caused by atrial fibrillation (and her primary physician’s mismanagement of her care), I have to agree here.

I was wondering the same thing as Guinastasia…was it the end result of some underlying condition like a-fib?

Double post–lousy board issues.

Thank you. And back at you.

If so, there’s no mention of it in his wiki entry. It mentions precancerous tumors found during a 2015 colonoscopy, but that’s it.

His father died of a heart attack at age 35; this would suggest that there might have been some sort of genetic risk factor (e.g. familial hpercholesterolemia) involved.

This morning’s news piece on it mentioned a cancer scare / incident that reportedly caused him to make dietary and lifestyle changes, and it ended with a clip of him speaking about it and saying he had children and wanted to be around for them for a long time :frowning:

He played the leader of a wacky religious cult on Criminal Minds. Damn fine performance.

It’s always sad when a young person (younger than me, always) dies.

As well as the criminal pastor in OZ.

RIP, Luke. :frowning:

he also played a rapist who had a child with a woman he raped and years later married her on law and order suv

Wow. Too young. His role on Riverdale seemed like a nice fit for him.

I will admit to watching 90210 back in the day as a guilty pleasure. High school kids, none of whom plagued by poor self-esteem, weight issues or even a bad case of acne? Too funny. Once they graduated it wasn’t any fun so I dropped it.

RIP, Mr. Perry.

I remember he kicked a surprising amount of ass on Celebrity Jeopardy back in the early 1990s. I was surprised at the time- I thought he was just a pretty-boy actor.
