Perry first became famous for his part as Dylan McKay on “Beverly Hills 90210.” He then had a role on “Oz,” and is currently playing Archie Andrews’ father on “Riverdale.”

Perry is 52.

My honest response when my wife told me was “Oh shit, Jungle Boy’s dad?”
His son is a pro-wrestler in Los Angeles who goes by Jungle Boy.

Remember when Peter Griffin tried to seduce him?

Brian: Congratulations Peter, we now have a picture of Luke Perry vomiting.

I just got word that he’s passed on :frowning:

RIP Dylan; you were my favorite bad boy.

Dang. 52. Another piece of my 20s bites the dust.

Damn.

Bye man. RIP

Such a young age.

I just had a stroke myself in mid-January and I’m 56. Spent a few weeks in the hospital and then a few weeks at physical therapy. Thankfully I’m almost fully recovered to 95 percent (or so) of my usual self.

Doctors said I was super-lucky and fortunate and mine wasn’t severe.

While in the hospital (the neurological ICU) there were several people that had had really severe strokes. :frowning:

Wasn’t really a fan, but that’s very sad. 52 isn’t that old.

Sorry to say I was waiting for this news. “Massive stroke” tends not to be compatible with a long, healthy life.

Thread title updated.

Yes, as sad as it is, I’d rather see a 52 year old rest in peace than struggle the rest of his life with the aftermath of a massive stroke.

There’s a pretty much forgotten Christopher Lloyd movie from c. 1994 called Camp Nowhere about a group of middle schoolers who set up their own summer camp and basically have the time of their lives without adult supervision. It stars future cult leaders Andrew Keegan and Allison Mack as well. It’s a great movie and one of my summer staples now that I have kids of my own.

There’s a scene where the geeky kid is trying to get an old TV to work and everyone is discussing going to a hotel or something just to watch some tube. Suddenly it flicks on, showing the *Beverly Hills, 90210 *into. One of the girls gives this big sigh and says something to the effect of “if I don’t see Dylan, I’ll just die!”

I remember seeing that movie in the theaters, it was the summer I turned 13. At the time all of the actors from 90210 were teen idols, Luke Perry perhaps most of all. I never watched anything that he was in, but, like the Kardashians of today, Perry was someone everyone knew about and, if you were young and female, talked a lot about.

It feels really weird that a teen idol from my teen years has died. RIP Luke. You made a lot of people happy.

My sympathies to his half brother, Herschel Krustofsky.

Oh dear! RIP

Of course, at the time Camp Nowhere came out, teenage Luke Perry was 28.

Stroke high five.

Me too. Beginning of January. I haven’t talked about it on here and probably won’t. I’m in the same boat I’ve made remarkable progress. Because of that the story really hits home. He’s only a year older than me. I was so lucky.

Wow, somebody’s already updated Krusty’s Wikipedia page: (that “deceased” is not about this.)

I have never seen 90210, but watched Jeremiah, which he was the lead of.

I mean, man, he looked totally healthy. I guess there are no predictive signals for a stroke like this? Nuts.

Very sad.

I’m glad you’re okay!!!

Man, 52, that’s scary.

I watched the premiere of Beverly Hills and so I saw Luke Perry’s debut as a teen heartthrob. I never really watched the show after that.

I have been enjoying seeing him on Riverdale, which is a brilliantly insane show.

And don’t forget, he was Pike, Buffy Summers’s love interest, in the first incarnation of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), a star-studded affair with Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman), Rutger Hauer, Hilary Swank, David Arquette, Stephen Root, Ben Affleck, Seth Green, Ricki Lake, … whew!

I mostly remember him from a minor role in The Fifth Element. Sad that he’s gone…
