Actors/Actresses you avoid.

Sort of inspired by the Genre thread. After Eddie Murphy made The Golden Child I pretty much decided to never pay to see one of his movies again. I think history backs up that decision.

I 've heard Adam Sandler has some decent material out there too. I might even agree if you manage to chain me to a chair and tape my eyelids open.

Burt Reynolds. Has he ever done anything other than mug the camera at all.

Adam Sandler, as a rule, although Happy Gilmore was ok.

Nick Cage. Very talented, I just don’t like him.

Meryl Streep. See Cage, Nick.

Any Wayans.

Most Baldwins.

Any Flavor of the Month teen sensation.

Anybody who has ever won, been on, or seen American Idol.

I 'm so negative about Tom Cruise that I totally forgot he was in one of my favorite movies Rain Main.

Sarah Jessica Parker. I find myself completely unsympathetic to any character she plays which means that watching her in a film is just making myself think “I hope she gets hit by a bus” for 90+ minutes.

I’m not even against the actress as a person – I just hate every character she’s ever played.

I have never seen an episode of 24 because I cannot stand Keifer Sutherland.

Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, Catherina Zeta-Jones.

All these ladies annoy me for some reason or other and I purposely avoid movies with them. I want to see “The Good Shepard” but I’m afraid Jolie will ruin it for me.

Jack Nicholson. The man is way too good at playing creepy, leering psycho degenerates. No doubt he is a creepy, leering psycho degenerate. If I want to spend two hours of my life looking at someone like that, I’ll just go to the bad side of town, pick out a suitable inhabitant, and do it for free.

Having said that, I still loved The Shining and will probably watch The Departed when it comes out on DVD. I may hate the actor, but he has been in some great movies.

Nick Cage
Keanu Reeves in anything after Bill & Ted the First
Richard Gere
Anyone that ever associated themselves with “Will & Grace”

Kyra Sedgwick. I find her cloying and phony. She’s probably the only instance where I’ll pass on a movie or show just because a particular actor is involved.

Kevin Cosner–painful to watch him read his line in front of the camera.
Any teenie-bop flavor of the month–not even if I’m armed with popcorn and a large Coke.

Julia Roberts, although she has managed to attach herself to a few projects that were otherwise worth watching.

The same cannot be said of Richard Geer, who has never, to my knowledge, made anything worth watching.

Jane Fonda, for pretty much the reasons one might expect.

I also avoid Sandler and Sarah Jessica Parker.

In addition

Luke Wilson
Will Farrell
Jim Carrey
Kevin Costner
Julia Roberts
Mike Myers

Talent to hype ratio is so way out of whack with these “actors”/“comedians”

Mickey Rourke.

Nicole Kidman - the woman is an anti-actor.

Eddie Murphy after "Golden Child. Check… except for “Bowfinger”.

Nicolas Cage. Check…except for “Raising Arizona”.

Jane Fonda. Check…except for “Barbarella”.

Burt Reynolds. Check…except for “Stroker Ace”.

Tom Cruise. Check…except for “Risky Business” (and “Rain Man”, I guess).

John Travolta. Except for “Pulp Fiction”.

Can I get a Ben Affleck?

Robin Williams. Every character he has ever played is Mork with a different costume. Give him Superman or Stimpy, he will try to make you cry.

Kevin Costner. Who ever told him he could act?

John Travolta. I mean, really.

Ben Stiller. It hurts me just to watch him.

You’d never take me alive!

Andie MacDowell
