There’s a great scene in the movie Heat where Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are sitting together in a coffee shop talking, and its fantastic, their two different acting styles compliment one another perfectly. Why those two haven’t done more films together, I don’t know, but I’d love to see them in another film.
Anybody else have actors they’d like to see work together that either haven’t done it, or have only done it in a few brief scenes?
(Now that I think about it, it might be interesting if Harrison Ford and Bogey could have done a movie together.)
I was home being extremely sick yesterday. I staggered to the living room and turned on the TV, where I was greeted by the vision of Eva Gabor doing the twist with Thelma Ritter. “Oh, lordy, I’m delerious,” I thought, and went back to bed.
Turned out it really WAS Eva Gabor doing the twist with Thelma Ritter, in some 1963 Paul Newman comedy. That’s just a sight you never expect to see.
Swarzenegger and Stallone in a comedy buddy cop movie.
The two cops were in their repective primes decades ago, but now their respective physiques have been flabbied-up by the passage of time. They come back for one last hurrah.
Admit it, you want to see them both duke it out in a back alley.
Kevin Kline and Janeanne Garafalo in a romantic comedy. Two great comic actors - they’d have a field day with nearly any script they could get their hands on.
Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood in the Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott parts in a remake of Ride The High Country.
The Baldwin brothers could play the outlaw brothers.
For some reason, I think Kevin Spacey and Richard Dreyfuss would mesh well in a film together.
Vincent D’Onofrio and Oliver Platt
Marlon Brando and John Malkovich as father and son.
Michael Caine and Gene Hackman. Both great actors have done lots of garbage for the money, how have they not acted together before. A Bridge Too Far doesn’t count.
