Un-fucking-believable !
This explains in part how the Dumpster got so many votes.
OTOH, I just saw a tweet (sorry, no link handy) of a picture, taken from a rooftop, of the actual size of a crowd at one of those rallies. There were probably 30 or 40 people standing on some courthouse steps, and I wouldn’t be surprised if security outnumbered the protesters.
Are you sure that wasn’t a Biden rally?
Some of the signs express support for Trump. No Biden signs in sight. Besides, Biden supporters can spell and think logically.
I like the “my body, my choice” sign. Wonder if they feel the same way about abortion?
Well, considering they’re Trump followers and he’s sending them out to contract a fatal disease, I guess it’ll end up helping Biden.
I have to admit, the “It’s COVID-19, not COVID-1984” one was pretty clever.

And, just like the Tea Party before it, this has plenty of the hallmarks of astroturf:
Srsly?
Just fuck.
You sure some of them aren’t tongue in cheek?
It seems entirely plausible that they do. About 1 in 5 Republicans identify as pro-choice. It is also a demonstration that probably skews more towards the libertarian wing of the GOP and a woman holding the sign. It would be surprising to me if that relatively small demonstration did not include some pro-life Republicans. They are everywhere even if usually drowned out in normal discourse.
The party positions are pretty starkly divided on abortion. Their voters are not nearly as divided.
Some of the signs seem valid, in theory.
But a very wise person once told me, “If a theory doesn’t hold up in practice, it’s a bad theory.”
And don’t take their marching orders directly from Donald Trump’s prolapsed anus.
That first one, “don’t cancel MY golf season” is Trump’s, isn’t it?
”Let My People GO-LF!”
Yeah, these people are definitely Trump voters. The tone-deaf appropriation of slogans of the civil rights movement, obeisance to their would-be demagogue while complaining about the oppression of being asked to self-isolate to stop an epidemic, the anti-science rhetoric of holding a sign saying “COVID-19 IS A LIE!” while wearing a full bunny suit, mask, and eye protection, and just the general insanity of congregating during an epidemic.
This is like someone mashed up Contagion with Idiocracy, and maybe a little Monty Pythoninfluence, too. Are there any silly walks in evidence?
I do have to admit, I wish I had chosen “Bill Gates of Hell” as my user name. Is it too late to switch?
Stranger
It’s never too late. Though you’ll always be Stranger to us.
It’s really unfair of those photographers to make it look like white supremacist rallies. I mean, I’m sure there were plenty of people of color at those events, and the photographers just chose to exclude them from the frames, so that every single person photographed was white. There’s no chance this was all a bunch of angry white reactionaries organizing themselves into a semiviolent lather. And it’s just coincidence that these rallies started taking off after it became clear that the deaths from COVID-19 were disproportionately among people of color.
It also suggests that they understand— or at least, accidentally stumbled across— the fact that the “19” in COVID-19 represents a year, which puts them ahead of luminaries like Rush Limbaugh, Kellyanne Conway and our esteemed president.
There’s no vaccine (or cure) for stupid.
I fully expect that none of these people will get the vaccine when it comes to market. Also, I expect them all to be pro-choice going forward.
Speaking of anti-vaxxers, there’s an interesting meme floating around that says ‘you want a world with no vaccines, this is what a world looks like without one vaccine’.
Here’s a better idea. Ask the media to stop showing them and don’t give them any attention. No memes about them, no buzzfeed articles with pictures of how dumb they are etc. I know fox will still show them, but the other stations can ignore them.
If they don’t have any attention, they’ll go home.
