I saw something similar in the billions of oversized postcards I’ve been getting in my mailbox. Arpaio’s re-election ad boasted about his Tent City and how it really is humane and has saved Arizona over $40 million since its inception*.
All I could think was, “Yeah, that’s right Arpaio, own your lack of respect for human rights.”
*Even if that’s true, $40 million over 15+ years isn’t much even at the county level.
Well, in all fairness they had some help from a few other states in his advancement.
I’m with you. Like I said, I spent the first 22 years of my life in Texas. Compared to some of the ads I remember that one is positively dull and could have been from any other of our lovely death penalty states.
I admit Texans can be obnoxious but the vast majority of the folk are quiet pleasant.
At least as long as Jesus, gay people and chili with beans don’t come into the conversation.
Yep, Native Texans are some of the friendliest, most likable folks I’ve ever met. It very well could be from the chili.
I knew Devon Ward Wallace Anderson growing up. Even been to Ireland with she and 20 others on a college history trip. They don’t come much better and she was a fine judge too. I’m sure she married well.
Don’t have much trouble with the ad either. But then we’ll be some of the ones he wants to see benefit.
Even if the characterization of Abbott’s career goals is accurate, this is still a yawn-fest. Small-government guys want a smaller, less-intrusive government. If that’s your (espoused) political philosophy, it makes sense to pick someone well-associated with an agency’s excesses to rein them in. It’s like sending Bolton to the UN.
All you Texas haters are right, so please, please, please- don’t move here. It’s horrible. You will hate it. Don’t bother. (Fellow, Texans- do not encourage them. My favorite swimming holes are too crowded already.)
I couldn’t vote for either Anderson or Oliver, so skipped that race altogether.
I agree it’s a yawn-fest, because I doubt Mittens will be picking anybody for his cabinet. So Abbott won’t be able to wreck the EPA. He’ll just remain a Texas problem…
